1. The English sought to acquire land and build a better life.
2. Those who could not afford to go to America basically sold their freedom and did labor for those who paid for them to come to America.
3. Some people that were indentured servants were beaten, maimed, or disfigured by the "master" while working.
4. Indentured servants were denied the rights to freedom, socializing with who they like to, or get married.
5. Travel was insecure and the American economy was poor.
6. What pulled immigrants to America were business oppurtunities, land availability, higher wages, and more personal and religious freedom.
