Ok so I just found out my boyfriend's birthday is next Wednesday (the 10th) and i need suggestions on what to get him. He's a varsity football player/golfer and is into baseball (Houston Astros) and bands like Weezer and other alternative rock/rock bands and he also likes Johnny Cash.

The thing that is also concerning me is that he didn't tell me his birthday was coming up. His friend brought it up. I was kind of hurt that he didn't say anything but his friend also mentioned that he lied to his last girlfriend because he thought she might break up with him because he was younger, which she did end up doing for other reasons, I believe.

Anyways he brought it up today in class when he asked me when my birthday was and then i told him that i knew his birthday was coming up. We talked about it as he walked me to class but he was trying to change the subject. I really don't care. He's only 9 months younger and that's a really superficial thing to end a relationship for. I'm just disappointed that he didn't tell me.

Well our relationship is still fairly new we've only been together for a month and a little less than two weeks, but I still want to get him something. I was thinking of a handmade card and some kind of gift, but i don't know what. Any suggestions?

This situation sounds familiar. shifty.gif
Only 'cause I kind of found myself in the same situation last month, kind of.
I guess our boyfriends have the same interests..

What I did is I got him a customized dog tag with a picture engraved on one side, then the date we started going out on the other side with an "I Love You". Also, I got a big poster, folded it in half, and made a home-made card out of that, then also bought him a Bengals football jersey 'cause that's his favorite football team. _smile.gif

You can use any of those ideas, but baked goods sounds good too.
Uhm..and I dunno what else. sweating.gif

adhere to his personality- get him something that is based on what his personality-type would like. go ask him yourself so you know its something he would like, even though any gift is worth it. and too bad if this was too late.

That doesn't always work, especially if he already has the things you know he likes. You can't ask someone what they want for their birthday, that's a bit rude. You're not supposed to tell someone you don't know what to get them.

Since the relationship is fairly new, keep it kind of cheap. You have to get the card, whether it's homemade or not (I suck at the homemade stuff because I don't have that fancy calligraphy talent) you should fill up the blank side(s) (I once got a card that had three sides) of the card with stuff from the heart. I hope you don't write any "I love you" stuff because it's only been a month.

When you're at his house or something, you should check out his CD collection and his game collection and whatever he enjoys so you won't get him something he already has. You should get him a special edition of one of his favorite CDs if he doesn't already have it then wrap that in a jersey, put it in a gift box, and wrap that up.

Don't feel too bad about not knowing what to get him, my lover's birthday is around that date, I've known for awhile and STILL don't know what to get him pinch.gif

hmm all really nice suggestions... ohhh i also remembered he's a huge A&M fanatic. I'm going to try that huge homemade card thing and maybe get all his friends/ football players to sign it. umm baked goods are a good idea.

Thanks a lot you guys. I figured out what to get him. What I did was buy him a football along with silver sharpies and got all of this friends to sign it, sort of a Happy Birthday card but on a football, who knows maybe it'll be work something some day with all that talent lol. Anyways, I got him that and a CD with all the hits from Johnny Cash. Hopefully he'll like that.
