Some girls who are a size 4 are fat to some people, while to some a size 16 is juuuust right. Its not fair to tell girls to not try and raise their confidence by wearing clothes they like and makeup they like. If it makes them feel good about themselves, who are you to judge? I mean, I hate how some black dude wear shorts so low that they touch the top of their shoes like pants. But if they feel comfortable that way, then its their right. And I tell you what, these fat ugly girls u are doggin on are gonna be the beautiful gems when they get older because they wont be spoiled by overconfidence and huge egos. you will fin dthat they will grow out of their "fat ugliness" 95% of the time and be the pretty confident type of girl you want. And then it will be too late cuz you said she was fat and ugly. While the confident stuck up girls you think are hot now are going to start smoking and drinking because they want to stay popular,a nd will wind up gaining 20 pounds their first year of college and being totally useless because they no longer have the looks to back of thier egos that hid their already nonexisitant personalities. This i know from personal experience.

My friends and I were talking about this a few weeks ago, about how if you really believe that something is the truth, would it be considered lying, if others knew it wasn't?

So to put what my friends and I discussed into what this topic is about, I'll have to ask this: What if an absolutely-horrid-looking girl/guy truly believed that they were attractive, and flaunted theirselves like so (despite whatever the entire world thinks), then would you allow for them to act/be "hot"?

If they have a high enough self-esteem with their appearance, then I think that they should be able to do something about it.

I had a friend. She smelled horrid, had bad teeth, never took her braids out, and just was overall nasty. But she honestly beleived she was by far the hottest sh*t in the world. And because she carried herself in that manner, people treated her that way. However, behind her back people had nothing but bad things to say to her. bUt heres the thing, on a bad day, and I mean a bad day, she would come to me and be like, I'm ugly, no one likes me, i have gross teeth and nasty hair, I hate myself. And I would never lie and be like noooo you dooonnnttt...cuz she did. But I would tell her it doesnt matter what others think cuz in the end it just you, and thats the truth. I mean, you let what people say about you change you, then who are you? Its like one thing if you weigh 500 pounds and your life is suffering because of it, and people are also saying stuff so u lose weight, but I mean, people call Beyonce fat and ugly and untalented, but shes out there winning grammys and making a couple mill everytime she goes outside. Shes saying eff yall, I hear what u say and I'm fabulous anyway. Why tear someone down? What good does it do them. U tell a girl who thinks shes pretty that shes actually ugly, she will forever be self concious about it. I didnt know I was chubby until I got in the 7th grade and some dude who used to like me in elem. said ew get away from me you fat ass bitch. And I was like I'm not fat. And I never realized it until that day. I went home and I stared in the mirror for hours and hours. and its not like I was wearing belly shirts or anything,but I was confident and happy with how i looked. From that day on for 3 years I wore sweatshirts tied around my waist to hide it. and I wasnt even big, and I'm still not even big. But I was happy until he said that. Now to this day I have extreme weight problems. I will probably never be happy with how I look. No matter how many people say I'm pretty or ive lost weight or whatever, because in my mind im the girl he called fat. And I didnt even like him!! But yeah. i think its better to let people delude themselves. Its selfish to crush their dreams. Its not like youre a judge in a modeling competition here. this is life and not everyone is born fabulous. Most people arent. But if you feel fabulous the last thing you want it for someone to crush that. even if youre totally stuck in 1983 and you look like a stuffed sausage.

It's awful how people can be so cruel with such simple yet harsh words.

Words hurt. They're powerful and have an impact on the lives of those around you. I totally agree with what you're saying and it's hard to rebuild yourself from whatever it is that other people negatively think/say about you. But like you said, in the end, it comes to YOU, and you alone.

you know to a certain point it doesnt matter what someone loooks like to you. if they're happy with how they look why do you care?, i mean worry about yourself...thats what my parents told me cuz i use to have the same views as u, i hated girls who did that...n i wasnt sure if i was jealous if i was upset cuz i didnt have the guts to dress up n be happy with what i have or if i was ya kno ugly to other people....but its pretty much a self opinion on how they percieve them self n not what we think of them...so i would write more but schools about ot be out lol!!.....

Out of curiosity - what is it that defines *ugly*? I personally do not consider fat *ugly*. There's this social stigma here that equates fat with ugly. I just strongly disagree with that and I find it discouraging that this mentality exists. In some countries, being a robust woman is a *good* thing.

1. Fat and ugly girls can think they're hot if they want to. It's better than complaining about how ugly or fat they are. If they're happy with their body or their face, let them be.

What makes a person pretty? The fact that they think they're beautiful. And in my opinion, if they really think of themselves like that, it'll shine through no matter how ugly or fat you think they are. BUT if a girl doesn't truly believe that, it wont shine through. I think I kind of get what you're talking about. There are girls that run around in these hot little numbers trying to get people to think they're perfect, but then they look in the mirror and see a million things they want to change. They don't see all the good things about themselves and so you see right through their act.

Oh yeah, I agree. Like on those talk shows they say things like "Stop hating, you're just jealous." That makes me so mad, and I yell, "Oh please, don't flatter yourself" at the tv. I really don't get it...don't they see that if they wear clothes that are too small, it makes them look fat whether they are fat or not? Like even if a skinny or fit girl wore something too tight, it still looks bad and makes her look a little chubby because it cuts into her body. It's one of my biggest pet peeves.

Either way, I think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The guys I have dated thought I was breath taking and I don't see it. Some guys I dated were considered ugly by some people but I thought they were good looking.

But if you either have low self esteem (oh my god i am so farking ugly) or too high self esteem (man all the boys want me and i can go steal so and so's boyfriend), it's still going to be annoying, and more so if you're really not as attractive in other people's eyes. and i think corizzle20 is talking about the high self esteemers.

Yes, and it would be perfectly fine if guys didn't so often insist that they want want confident girls. It's completely paradoxical; not unheard of, just fantasitcally irritating. I really don't know why confidence even needs to be mentioned as a desirable trait if it's just going to boil down to people being shallow caring about very little except dating someone hot anyway.

How can someone KNOW they are ugly or fat? Maybe in Hawaii, the average pants size is a 2. And maybe in Texas the average pants size is a 7. 7 might be skinny for Texans, but to Hawaiians that would be fat.
