So, I have to write a short essay. The topic is about how the river represents Huck's passage into manhood.

...I'll be honest, I didn't read the book. We've had so much other assignments to do, it was just pretty much the last thing on my priority list, but I can't afford not to do it, so any help would be greatly appreciated, such as...

- What river, first off?
- When & where did this river come into play?
- What about the "manhood"?
- Examples, examples, EXAMPLES. Much needed.

well... i think the river is mississippi(sp?) or the missouri(sp?) river. it's an 'M' river.

finn comes to terms with a lot of things during his adventure on the river. he reevaluated how he views himself and black people. he comes to terms that some of the acceptable practices of the day (slavery) aren't very righteous.

take a look a sparknotes. you really need to have a summarized version of the story to write about such a broad topic.

The river comes into play when [if i remember correctly] Huckleberry ran away from home and the town thought he was dead and searched for his body. He took off down the river with Jim. You should watch the movie, it's pretty good. Doesn't have EVERY little detail that the book does though.
