The tracker is kinda funny too.
I had this one visitor, and according to GeoStats, he lived smack in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Yeah, it tracks the IP of your ISP provider, doesn't it? But that's really funny.

This tracker isn't compatible with Facebook.

You can't 'skin' Facebook like you can Xanga and MySpace.

im using this for my myspace.
how would i know whos looking at it or w/e its supposed to do?
mona lisa
Mar 29 2007, 01:00 AM
At the moment, no, it won't tell you specifics such as the username or friendID of whomever visited your page. Right now, the most you can do is track the individual IP, though it may just give you the IP of the person's internet service provider instead. It does that.
teanut
Mar 29 2007, 01:11 AM
i say you should make it to show the username of the person who visited your page. b/c then that would be tight

So it's a new month, and I can't view yesterday's stats from March 31. Previous Day link isn't clickable. I couldn't find anywhere on the page to go back. Once a month ends, do you lose the stats? I appreciate your help. :)

ChaosIsLove
Apr 24 2007, 04:44 PM
You can have trackers on myspace, what you can't have is one that tracks User Names. Those will be removed, unfortunately.

Well, what I'm really asking I guess, is, you can't manipulate your ISP by putting in a different Location on your Myspace profile, right?
Here is the deal with IP addresses. IP stands for Internet Protocol, so IP Address is your internet address. ISP is your Internet Service Provider. THEY are the ones that assign IP Addresses. And the location of your IP may not be exactly where you live, though for cable/broadband it usually is static (meaning you keep the same IP Address) which does allow for locating easier. If you're on dial-up, each time you go on the internet, your ISP will give you a new IP Address that is from their company (each ISP is given just so many IP Addresses to use, which can complicate things for them after they've all been assigned to new clients. Dial-up IPs are recycled though). So if you log onto your myspace at a friend's house, then the IP showing on the cb tracker will be one from your FRIEND'S ISP company.
Before the intermediate techies start asking, yes, there are programs out there that can switch (really it's not switching, it's masking your real IP) your IP. This can be done with an Onion Router as well, though you will be using SOMEONE'S IP that signed on to use the same OR (which is weird to use at first, as when you check out your current IP while using the OR, it will often say that you're in Germany, etc.)
Just like you have a house number as part of your address, you have an internet number too. Changing your info on myspace to say you're somewhere else will not change your IP. Hope this makes sense to those that are asking.

I really like it so far, granted I havent had it very long.
It's faster and more up to date with the times of hits than trakzor, also more organized. With trakzor it didnt give links of who viewed it, and manually IDing the people was sometimes inprecise and well, often wrong.
I do have a question though. Is there a way to nickname someone so that you can make that certain link show up as "Bobby" or whoever, rather than "www.myspace.com/kjghksfnmh"? [random example lol]
