Could there possibly be in an update a way to exclude certain IP adresses from the tracker like your own so it's not tracking you as well. A couple of people have asked this, but I didn't really see any definite answer saying "Yes, we'll think about that" or "No, this is impossible"
Thanks

^ I am certain that this has been mentioned somewhere, just not in this topic. I believe micron said he would add a feature for searching IP addresses in the next update. Stay tuned with this topic.

Myspace doesn't allow it- against their Terms of Use, I believe.
Really guys, TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE TOPIC. Especially what Spencer said. THE TRACKER DOES NOT SUPPORT MYSPACE USERNAMES.

And maybe sometime you could fix it to where it could show myspace names instead of saying anonymous. That would be great!!!!
Thanks again!

Love the idea, but I've an issue...I put a tracker on Myspace, and it doesn't let me see the people's names...Almost had you there, didn't I? No, I've a different problem; I put one tracker on Myspace, and I wanted to put one on Xanga, but it says "Sorry, you may only track up to three sites at a time." Issue is, I'm only tracking one at this point...
Wait...Never mind...But yeah, good job with the tracker.

although you have it all wrong. it does track on myspace, it just won't :gasp: give you the username. it still tells you when you get hits though.

I've had this on for a week now and its keeping me smiling. Excellent work!
I even freaked out my housemate when I logged his IP address and asked him if he liked my site (to the extent of revealing his exact time he went on it)......hahaha. Anyway what IP database does it use as a lot are coming up 'unknown, UK' (including me). Are these all relatively new internet connections?

Wow, this is great! Thanks!

I was a little sad that myspace usernames don't show up, until I read through the posts and found that showing usernames is against the TOS. I understand the reasons why this isn't allowed after reading through the myspace forums about tracking usernames = invading the privacy of other users. Imagine the drama (as if myspace doesn't have enough!) if people were saying things like, "I tracked you lurking 9 times today, so why didn't you comment me back?" or "Geeze, I know we broke up, so stop stalking my profile 20 times a day!!"
So, now that part doesn't bother me because this is still an awesome tracker! Good job on it. I love how detailed it is (URL destination and real life location) and the top visitors section too.
But since I am really curious, I have been able to figure out some of who has been visiting my myspace by checking the time of visits with the time that comments/messages are posted. I think this only works well with people who have a static IP though, and I have a pretty good idea of which of my friends have static IPs. So now I just remember who has what static address, and I'm pretty much gold

Oh, I think I'm having a little problem though. I added the code to two myspace profiles, and the stats page worked perfectly fine for both of them. But now, when I check the page I see
No data found. Make sure tracking code is correctly installed.. I even readded the code since I thought that I could have accidently modified it when I modified the About Me section earlier. I'm not too worried about it, and I think that it's some minor issue. Just wanted to point it out, in case others were experiencing the same thing.

"Unique visitor" is the number of visitors you have had total. It doesn't count returning visits. When someone visits your site, it counts them once and then never again. So if you have 4 unique visitors and 9 page views, it means that 4 people have visited your site, but your site has been loaded 9 times. Hope that makes sense. :)

I figured it out myself. Because no one seems to answer this question, I'll answer it for anyone who asks it in the future.
First off, you log in and go to
http://www.livejournal.com/modify.bmlMake sure your style is S1. I don't think it works with S2.
Scroll down to the overrides text box.
If you already have text in there, find the following tags:
FRIENDS_WEBSITE<=
and
LASTN_WEBSITE<=
Put the tracker code on the line after each of those.
If there's nothing in that box, then you'll have to add both of those tags.
So it would look like this (if the box was empty in the first place) -
CODE
FRIENDS_WEBSITE<=
(your tracking code here)
<=FRIENDS_WEBSITE
LASTN_WEBSITE<=
(your tracking code here, again)
<=LASTN_WEBSITE
Then save and it should work. :)

i really like the trackerr
i understand that it will stay anoymous 4 myspace
but it will be nice if there was a way you could edit that for each ip address... like if you know for sure who it was who visited your profile then you can like change it from to anoymous to susiee & whatnot...

Great utility, thanks so much for developing it... just had a couple questions for micron:
Have you had any official word from MySpace as to whether or not your CB stats is allowed? I agree with you that it seems to comply with their TOS, but I'd just rather be safe than find out one day that my MySpace account is gone.
Also... is there any reason that you don't include a referring URL for the MySpace stats like you do with Xanga, etc? I'm really curious to see if people are hitting my page via search engines, MySpace searches, or other peoples' friend pages, etc etc.
Thanks in advance, and once again... great job.
