it seems ridiculous to me that one cannot vote for someone who has already won.

the best staffer should win, hands down, each month, regardless of whether or not they have won before. to say that 'each mod deserves a turn' undermines the point of the voting, and just turns the whole concept into a massive 'let's make the mods feel GREAT about themselves, one by one' session, which is frankly a waste of time.

i say abolish that rule.

the best should win. period.

I agree 100%. I mean, if a mod is exactly the way a mod should be, shouldn't they be recognized for doing so? If they're that good and they stay that way for more than a month or more, then they should still be nominated even if they've already won.
Teesa
I agree. Then pretty soon, there's only gonna be a few mods left that were never chosen and that wouldn't be fair to other moderators who worked harder.

Yep me too - the only thing that I don't want to happen is a popularity contest.

But yes, the best should win, period.

but we want it to be fair for the other staff members--if the same staff member won each month do you really think that would be fair?

if someone is more deserving although they have won, whats the point in giving it to someone who doesnt really deserve it?

allowing everyone to be chosen seems fair, but that means everyone will be picked even if the community doesnt think they are qualified for it.

having it so that someone can be picked more than once shows who really deserves it each month, not by just giving it to the mod that hasnt been picked.
xosteffanator
^i can agree with that i guess.
but i still think there should be some kind of limit to it, like after a staff member has won ___(insert # here) times they can not be nominated until ____(insert # here) ______(insert days/weeks/months here.)

Um yeah. We have awesome mod who does a pretty good job. it shows dedication and loyalty to the cB. Basically, they provide more effort for our community. dont chu think?

well if they are the best staffer, then obviously that is fair. what ISNT fair is having someone less deserving win, because everyone else has already

I agree that the best person should win every month, but are we doing a member of the year competition as we do in the layouts sections? If so, maybe we should end up with twelve different staff members at the end of the year and then flush it out so anyone could win the next year. Twelve isn't even close to being every single staff member, so it's not like "okay children, you're all special so at some point, EVERYONE will win!"

In any case, maybe someone shouldn't win two months in a row. *shrug*

But I agree that it shouldn't matter who wins as long as it really is who the community feels is the best staff member.
I Shot JFK
i can see the argument for not two months in a row, but i just dont see the POINT if we can tvote for the person we feel is the BEST overall...

and even if someone wins more than once, it doesnt necessarily mean that they will win a seperate vote for staffer of the year... just enter all the mods who have won, there doesnt HAVE to be twelve
StanleyThePanda
Err... Sammi put it very well, and I agree with her.

i said this in the thread in the lounge but i do think the 2 month rule is good.

If that happens. That will goes against all websites of the month threads such as xanga, websites, and etc.

that has nothing to do with the task at hand. other contests can be run differently.

as spencer said.... so what?

personally, i think that the xanga ones shouldnt probably run the same way, with no previous winner descrimination, but whatever, that isnt my area of expertise.

but ther is nothing to say that all contests have to run the same way... after all, best caption contest doesnt have that kind of restriction

Why does it matter? If someone's so great, just vote for them in Staff Member of the Year...

We usually have around 30 staff members, so getting twelve different ones isn't even giving everyone a chance. Each year, it will be a clean slate.

Besides, a month isn't even a very long time. If someone is an exceptionally good staff member in February, obviously, they aren't going to be horrible in March. We already know that they're a good staff member, and if they are so completely exceptional, then they'll probably win Staff Member of the Year.

Why is it SUCH a big deal that you can only win one month?...I'm pretty sure we can all find twelve good staff members.
digital.fragrance
I retract my statement - I totally forgot about Staff of the Year. We need to give everyone an equal shot at attaining that - plus, the best staffer should win it. So, in that case, I say don't vote for the a person who has already won.

its just stupid to me that, because someone has won, tehy cant win again... the best person should win each month. why does there HAVE to be twelve candidates for staffer of the year, anyway?

Because there are 12 months in the year. [?]
(And I agree with Sammi, also.)

well obviously, im not stupid, but so?

why does the contest have to have a candidate per month then?
disco infiltrator
So there's a competition.
I Shot JFK
unless you're suggesting that the same person would win EVERY month, then ther would still be a compettition. you dont need tweleve people to have a competition
