In your opinion, would block scheduling be better than traditional scheduling?
Examples.
Block scheduling = Different classes on different days of the week.
Monday-Math, Lit, Social stud etc.
Tuesday-Lit, Gym, Science etc.
Traditional = Same classes every day of the week.
Monday-Math, Lit, Social stud etc.
Tuesday-Math, Lit, Social stud etc.

(I'm going to reopen this, since it is a discussion about block scheduling, not just posting what schedules users have for next year. So please, discuss the merits of block scheduling, not your course schedule for next year.)

I have the regular scheduling. Our school was going to have the other one, though, but over the summer, we got a new principal, and everything got messed up. I'm glad we didn't switch, I would've been confused like maaad.

we have block scheduling at my school, and personally, i think it's better than regular scheduling. with regular everyday is exactly the same and you have the same amount of hw everyyy single day. with block theres some variation. bah, i like it.

They changed it at my school so the underclassman have skinnies (the same 8 classes everyday, all year round) and the upperclassman have blocks (4 classes a day, half the year) I think I would enjoy blocks more, but I haven't been in it so I wouldn't know.

i have block scheduling but ours is different we only change classes each semester, but our 4th block class is the same because it's the shortest. i love it...i find it easier than traditional.

my school has block scheduling. it alternates every other day, so one is a black day and one is a gold day (school colors). on your schedule you have 8 classes so one day you got to 4 classes (blocks 1-4) and on the other you go to the other 4 classes (blocks 5-8). i like it better because your homework isnt due the next day and you have longer to do things.

Hmm, my school is the traditional way; we have the same classes every day. Eh, it does get boring after a while, since we're going to the same classes at the same time every day.

Traditional. Simple and easy! My school doesn't do anything about block scheduling.

Well, for me, it's good and bad in a way. The thing that sucks is the classes are much longer. I tend to want to fall asleep. But on the bright side, I don't have as much homework in a day, and my backpack isn't as heavy.

I'm a strong believer in all schools starting at 10am. I think 10am to 4:30pm is a good time. I don't think i've ever learned anything before 10am...
yes I know this is off subject but I just wanted to say that.

I don't know from experiance, but I think block sceduling would be better, mix it up a little. It would get boring otherwise..

My high school implemented a block system the year after I graduated, and I was jealous. The block programs allow for more to get done (45 minutes as compared to 75 or so, I don't know how long they get), as well as prepare you for college classes, which are longer for the most part.
I did have blocks twice a week though, for science classes. I was in my school's science and technology program, and on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during my freshman and sophomore years, we went to one class instead of the two we were scheduled to have. We got to do longer labs with agar plates and bacterial cultures and, gah, it was fun.
I sound like such a freakin' geek.

We have a normal schedule. A few things can change around, though, depending on what day it is (6-day cycle). Usually, it's because you don't need to take the class every day because it's not as important as your main classes. For example, I have health on days 1, 3, and 5, gym on days 2 and 6, and then study hall on day 4 (all during sixth period). Everything else is the same every day, though.
Personally, I've seen kinds of block schedules, and I hate it. The one I saw, for example, had math class for one semester and science for the other... And a whole bunch of other classes like that. It's not going to be fair for the juniors who need to take the SATs and maybe haven't learned some of its content yet because they don't have math class in that semester! Not to mention that you could easily forget what you've learned or be out-of-practice during the time you don't have the class...
Even though the classes in a regular schedule may be shorter than what time a block schedule can provide, I think it's much better to have reinforcement of a main subject every day.

Umm..I don't really know if I would like that or not. I need SOME consistency in my life, I dunno if I could deal with having different classes everyday because I grew up with the traditional schedule.

We had this utterly ridiculous schedule last semeser that had one period of block..kind of. It's too confusing to bother describing, but it was utterly ridiculous.
Typically we don't have block scheduling, but these past two weeks we did because of EOCTs or something. It involved two hours in three classes a day, and at first we all hated, because that's a lot of time to spend taking notes (and then later to do next to nothing at all) but on by Fridays when we went back to the usual schedule, I missed the lengthiness and not having to go to every class every day. It was nice for a time, but I'm not sure I'd want it all year.
