What would you consider to be flirting with someone, and how do you usually flirt?

I think flirting with someone includes corny jokes, quoting famous writers, and asking for your telephone number. Thinking of all of this reminds me of that time I saw a Barnes & Noble employee flirting with a customer. She actually gave him her phone number too, I wonder if it was fake or nor.
