I don't know where this goes,
but my Sims 2 CD just went under a diskdrive tragedy and it got all scratched up, and i mean really bad.
if i just buy another expansion pack, would i need the regular cd to install it?

andddd how do you like the sims 2? i love it. but now i can't play it until i buy another one which sucks.

I believe that you would still need the sims 2 installed on your computer when you install the expansion pack, but I don't think you need to put the actual sims 2 CD in when you install it...

Maybe you could just try getting a CD cleaner?

Oh, and my opinion on Sims 2...great game, but it gets boring after a while. Designing houses is pretty sweet, but playing when the families are there isn't very fun.

Good luck with the CD and all that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

i have the sims 2. If i could i'd give it to you the whole thing for a cheap price >_>
but i can't. I like it also. But i have like no time to play it. It's so addicting. But the size of the game is like humongooo. Once i start playing; it takes like just like 3 hours to set up and everything. And when i think ive only been at it for an hour; its like 7 hours have gone by ><

I don't know about Sims 2 but I know for Sims you had to have the original disk... maybe you call the company and see if they would send you a new one? If you can't fix it with CD cleaner. I'm having the same problem with one of my DVD's... your best (and maybe cheapest) bet is to call the company.

You will not be able to play any of the expansion packs unless you have that original disk. It sucks, but that's just how it is. Even though you load the program first, you have to have the disk to launch the entire program (I believe).

Are you at all able to copy the disk's image onto your hard drive? Or will it not even do that? I had a similar issue a while back and the customer service department at the EA Sims2 site was very helpful.

I think you still need the original disk.. try calling customer support or w/e, I'm sure there's some kind of warranty you can take advantage of.
