Hey mods, if this is in the wrong place, go ahead and move it - I didn't know where to put it.
Okay, well I'm going to be trying out for basketball on Monday, and I was wondering if any of you guys have some tips for me before I try out. I'm h*lla nervous...I can't stop thinking about it!!!
If you could give me some tips, that would be great!

I was in JV, but I stopped practicing since we had pre-season in the summer and it was way too hot, and I was missing out on alot of things....
here's my suggestions: Run alot. Condition yourself. What are you trying out for? JV? Varsity? Freshman? Sophmore? JV and Varsity, you gotta be well conditioned. IF its Freshman and Sophmore, It should be easy. but for you to be on the starting line-up. Well you just gotta know how to play D and score basically.
OH YEAH. Thrash Talk on D. but that's only if you got good D. I always do that when I'm guarding, and specially when the point guard is bringing up the ball from the other side of the court. I tell him when he brings it up with a flash of handles "What chu gonna do? over me or by me? bring it. bet cha can't pass by me." then when he try to go by me, I just strip it and score the fastbreak point. It goes my way most of the time. The other times, they don't care and just sticks with the gameplan.
PS-try to remember the plays, it gets confusing at times

i suggest hustling a lot during the tryouts. most coaches that i've come in contact with are more likely to pick a less talented person who hustles for everything rather than a more skilled, but lazy, person.
