Okay so I'm in honors. I know, you're probably thinking, "Geek alert". But that's what bothers me. Cuz on TV shows, movies, all that stuff the people in honors are thought of to be geeks, and supposedly all the hot guys are dumb*sses. But at my school allll the popular (and HOT) guys are in honors...and all the popular girls are in honors. All the dumb people are the geeks...its freakishly weird...

Nah, that's just a stereotype. I'm an honors student and I prefer to be called a nerd over a geek. 'Cause nerds are awesome. Getting good grades doesn't mean that you're a geek. In my school, most of the honors students are cool people. Not very geeky at all. Ugh, I'm not making sense.

In my school, honors class is like a balance between the popular ones and the nerds/geeks. The major stereotype in my school is that all Asians (since almost everybody in honors are Asians) are smart. Popular or not is no big deal.

but if you feel this way then like, tell them to back off, nd rub it in their faces that your in honor and that theyre not!

It's really just a stereotype, and you shouldn't care what other people say.
My schools is supposedly a really smart school, and everyone thinks that the students here are geeks or nerds. However, there are some people that wouldn't normally be labelled as that.

That's just not logical at all. Nowadays, kids are stupid. i mean, the influence get into their mind changes them.

i'm in honors. i don't think people in honors are geeks.

At my school, there is essentially no one not in honors worth talking to. I swear, they have all our class levels to separate lower class minorities more than anything. If you want geeky, there's IB. Honors is pretty much normal. But honestly, either way, do you want to spend your life on the level of idiots, getting nowhere, just to be "cool"?

I think being called a geek is kind of insulting. I prefer nerd as well =D. I'm very proud to be called or call myself a nerd.

Well, I'll always prefer nerd to geek, I don't like geek because I don't think it properly describes me. Plus, I think nerd sounds better =P. And I think both are a compliment overall, maybe not in their "formal" definitions, but how they're defined, or how I see them usually defined, now.

For us, if you're not in honors, ib or ap classes, they're labeled as 'stupid.' at our school, it's cool to be a nerd.

I'm in honors classes.....actually, half of my grade is in some kind of honors class. The people on TV shows are just steriotyped.....It's stupid. They make it seem like being smart makes you a geek.....

i'm in the highest honor's class in my grade..that doesnt mean that i'm a geek.

There are a lot honors students that are very popular in my school.
No one really cares if their smart or not. No one cares if their geek or not. Geeks ARE pretty cool though.
I call them unique.

I was in honors once. back in 8th grade. I had Geometry. I didn't really think it was that important back then. So I was lazy and didn't do anywork. Got an F. Now I'm like normal now. Algebra 2, but If i would have passed that Geometry in 8th grade, I'd prolly be in Triggo. *sigh* I missed that feeling of when people were thinking I was smarter than them. Damn hated myself for slacking. haha, thats life

I was in honors until my current year, now I'm an AP.
I don't think I'm a geek or intelligent people are geeks alone.
I personally don't care if I'm thought of as a geek or loser.
Shoot, as long as I get my education, I can careless. ;)

In my Honor Classes there are hella geeks..But When you'd see me by how I dress or act you'd think I'm a dumbass...But I'm a know-it-all sprinked with annoyance and seasoned with humor

I'm in honors in my JHS, and i'm not considered a geek, most people wouldn't even know i was in honors by looking at me.

They assume that everyone in Stuyvesant high school in NYC is full of geeks. Me and my friend were accepted, and we are never classified as geeks, since the definition of the stereotype "geek" = no life, smart, and doesnt flirt with alot of girls or have a gf, when we have extremely busy social lives. when i went to the open house, did i see a bunch of dorky looking people who speak with a nerdy accent? No, i saw a huge variety of people.

people who categorize others into stereotypes i despise, since you can't classify a person just by how they look or act, since everyone is unique.

but IB is definitely where the geeks are.

that's not true. IB is not where the geeks are. there are people at my school who're doing the full IB diploma, and they're really stupid.

half the people in honors at my old school got through the year by cheating on tests and copying homework.

and by the way, stuyvesant is NOT full of geeks. my sister went there with a whole bunch of friends, they got decent B-range grades and still were able to party every weekend. it's a smart school, but that doesn't mean that they're all geeks.

Eh, we have stupid kids doing full IB too, but they'r fairly geeky reguardless. But yeah, I meant my school, generally.

Actually when I was in high school, the people on the principal's honor roll were some of the most popular.

I don't really care if people think I'm a nerd or a geek. All of my classes are AP next year and I'm in higher level classes this year, and no one has called me a nerd. People are pretty impressed actually, and think it's cool. If someone did call me a nerd, I wouldn't care...they'll probably end up as my garbage man in the future anyway.

Do hush. You're most wrong. The topic isn't about being cool..at all. It's about honors and geekiness. Not being a geek doesn't make you "hott" [sic]; you can not be a geek by taking the classes and still being apathetic to the acedemics, in ways such as falling asleep. at my school, we don't use the words "honor student" i guess... we just say "made the honor roll" lol..

yeah, for the first semester i was on the B honor roll and for the second semester i was on the A honor roll...

they don't consider me a geek...

where i go to school, pretty much EVERYBODY at least makes the B honor roll... it's like everyone at my school is perdy smart... because they work us hard..

As a 10th Grader, I'm in all honors and 2 AP classes
i'm also somewhat popular and play sports
many "popular" kids are in honors but dropping ever year

I'm in honors. And so are alotta people that I know. and they are definately not geeks. everyone in my school has the ability to be in honors, but they choose not to.

i think on tv, smart people are portrayed as geeks probably because everyone thinks that smart people have no social life or anything. its really dumb. =\
