Are you the type of person who, when finds out the meaning of BIG word, memorizes it and starts using it often in coversations?

Yeah I'm like that! lol what about you guys?
lovescream
nah. I usually don't use it often. My vocabulary stays small. =P

For instance, when I discovered the word "blasphemy" haha.. I like worshipped that word for 2 hours. I didn't even know how to spell it right. I thought it was blasphurry or something. mellow.gif
Blow_Don't_SUCK
I basically copy off from Mipadi and learn the words he says. lol.
salcha
I bring with me those big SAT Vocabulary books so I know what college students talk about
vash1530
i limit my vocab depending on whom im talking to.
Smoogrish
I love vocab!

That was why I got 100% in English in 4th and 5th grade.
misoshiru
not intentionally, no. i think, that the biggest words i would use, are the ones i would use for inclass essays. but i definately don't do it on purpose.
EddieV
Depends on how the word sounds.
silver-rain
I guess it depends. Sometimes I do it, but unconsciously. Especially after memorizing vocab for school, the SAT, etc, it just gets stuck in my head.

^lol for some reason that made me laugh :)

Um, sometimes I do. If I really like the ring to the word or something.
I like to read a lot, so sometimes I take the words I see from books and stuff.
FUN, FUN.

Haha, and then you talk to me. :P

Nah, I really don't have a fantastic vocabulary. Just sometimes I feel really stupid using big words when most of the people around me prefer to talk normally. In writing and speaking for school, I obviously want my professors to believe that I know what I'm talking about, so I'll throw in more formal language. Otherwise I don't make an effort to sound smart.
Chii
i know "big" words but i'm afraid that if i use them in actual conversations, people won't know what i'm talking about. i always use them in papers for school.

but sometimes, i like looking around in the thesaurus for words that are out of the ordinary or sound weird and i use them in my vocabulary.

lol to me Mipadi is a book. I learn new words everyday!

I used big words once... but no one knew what I was talking about... so I just omitted using big words from now on.
tweeak
Mm. It's not on purpose, but I happen to have a pretty big vocabulary, so I won't consider words unusual, yet they'll catch someone else off guard. Thus, yes i can use big words without having to feel pretentious about it, but I'm not going to try to deal with them one way or another. My friends and I often find outselves using last year's vocab words, but that's more pathetic than anything.
AnnahhbeL
no, not really.
..:loveee.NuTTii
Usually my conversations don't require big words, so no. I still have a wider vocabulary than a lot of my friends. Knowing this makes me feel all tingly inside.
The_AZN_Godfather
Sometimes I do...

I only use them with people who will probably be able to understand them, though.
heyyfrankie
no.
besides...most big words have very specific meanings when a small word best fits the situation. at least, IMO. :P
jooleeah
not really. mellow.gif sounding smart doesn't really boost up my confidence/self-esteem. -.-

emazing
Yes'm. Like the word quintessence, the essence/the perfect example of something.
That word is a word that I use often. _smile.gif
Socialite
when speaking with friends i keep it simple... half the time they are drunk

when speaking to my boss or other co-workers i extend my vocabulary, i feel that being more eloquent helps my performance in the work place

Blasphurry, lmao. I should say that and people will be like "What?"

I used to do that with words a lot, when I found a new one. But .. it seems that whenever I use any of the wonderful big words with my friends at school they're just like "WHAT THE HELL IS A PAIR O' DOCKS?"

Sounding smart... oh, I love it. Sometimes I forget the meaning though, so I have to look it up before I use it. pretty much shows how stupid I am :D
