3. double click on the button...
4. on the timeline, click on the "over state"
5. click on the properties
6. click on tint from the drop down menu..
7. pick w/e color u want and there ya go!.

Well there's a tutorial, that doesn't require flash, but still does the same thing, when you hover over it it changes colors.

sorry i said it wrong.. im thinking of a movie clip.. ok.. follow this..

1. make your button, either type some text or draw a square..
2. then press F8 to convert it to a button clip
3. double click on the button u just created and u'll see on the timeline.. "up, over, down, hit "
4. click on the "over" and insert a keyframe.
5. after that click on the button u made and go to the properties.. u'll be able to change the color from there..

i just did it in Flash8 but im sure its like that in Mx too.
letme know how that works out

the changing color part works but it's just that the hover part doesn't work when i put my mouse over the word.

You could use ActionScript.. I believe the command is onMouseover.
