And when interviewer Rob Tannenbaum reveals Jay-Z once offered to pay him $1,000 (€836) if he ever came out of retirement, West tells the journalist: "Well, he's about to pay."

I'm pretty happy that Jay-Z's comin back. He never said that he was going to fully retire. Plus you know he couldn't stay outta the game for so long...I know i can't wait till his album drops....

He didn't need a gimmick to sell the Black Albu, he's Jay-Z. WTF? The Black Album was going to sell anyway, buuuut, he retires just to boost sales? That's a bitch move.

I will be downloading the comeback, though.

No one really means it when they say, "What more can I do/say"...Most people who retire come back. I like Jay Z though. Def, looking forward for his return.

hip hop is really wack right now

rappers are too lazy to make good music now and have to resort to gimmicks such as beef (the game, gunit, camron, etc) and now the new gimmick is retiring (jayz, dmx, jin, etc).. i mean im not even hype about anyone dropping a new albuim or nothign now.. im listening to less and less hip hop, and its not my fault..

Somehow I can't say I didn't see this coming, another marketing scheme, which gives Jay more net income. A true retired rapper is the rapper you never hear from again and you say "damn what happened to that cat, remember him". For instance, Kriss Kross, where they hell are they?
