well, im 14 and my hymen is still intact. i want to use tampons, so my friends suggested breaking it on my own. whats a good way to do that? with a tampon?

I'd just try not to break it - don't worry about it - it will break on it's own. Some girls have discovered that it is already broken... like if they are in a physical activity that is strenuous on the body, and they had no idea. Crazy!

Just don't worry about it, but that's my opinion. You don't want to risk hurting yourself uneccessarily.

People ussually break their hymen through tampon..
but there might be pain....if yours is thick..you'd probaly have to push harder

You don't have to try to break it, you just use tampons and if it breaks than there's no desaster, if it doens't than great. You can use tampons without having broken your hymen

actually, according to the merriam-webster's collegiate dictionary, the hymen is a fold of mucous membrane partly closing the orifice (opening) of the vagina. i thought it was a piece of skin too...

but anyway, what's the big deal? some people aren't even born with a hymen. just let nature take it's course. no need to intentionally break it if it's still intact...

personally, i wouldnt try to break it myself. let things go the way they are supposed to.

i can't insert my tampon ALL the way in unless i break my hymen. like a few centimeters stick out. my grandma is a retired nurse and she suggested the same thing...to break it with a tampon. and i've checked - its still there.

I read that it was a membrane also but put skin because there were different definitions in different dictionarys varying with membrane and skin.

Other girls have theyre hymen broken by riding a bike. Unfortanatly, I was one of those girls. You can try using a tampon if you wish, and if that doesnt work, ride a bike for a lonnggg time No Im joking. Let it just happen.

No. Some hymens produce more blood than others when broken. But you will never really necissarily know whether or not it has ever been broken.

A doctor could tell you , but it'd be hard to know if it was ever intact, or how it broke.

Of Actually, from what I've heard (I don't know if it's true), but there's a tiny hole in your hymen. Most girls have difficult finding that hole, thus tampon insertion might cause your hymen to break.

I mean think about it, how else dooes your period come out, if your hymen's still intact?

Look I'm a guy and ... not all vaginas are the same size... maybe some are tighter than others and are harder to break....others can be broken by a tampon others by finger and others with penis or whatever..... sheshh ....

I'm pregnant right now.. and in my pregnancy book it said when my baby girl is born that the hymen will break... so I think that may just be a myth.
