According to the San Jose Mercury News, The Bush administration wants access to Google's huge database of search queries submitted by users to track how often pornography is returned in results. This information would be used for Bush's appeal of the 2004 COPA law, targeted to prevent access to pornography by children. The law was struck down because it would have restricted adults access to legal pornography. Google is promising to fight the release of this information.

Invasion of privacy?
Well, for googles sake atleast.
But still, I'm not sure where my stance is on this.
One half, lots of people have access to googles top searched words and etc.

Other half, I guess it's a breach in some way or another.

I heard about this in the news. I mean Bush doesn't need to track down the porn thing. Google should just ban nude pics

Assuming that is technically possible, why would it be Google's obligation—as well as in its self-interest—to censor searches?

I don't see what bush plans to do with such knowledge since he can't control most of said sites since they are usually hosted in other countries to avoid such issues.

...maybe he just wants to know some good sites for himself?

I mean it's a website running 24/7 accessible to kids. They should at least have the responsiblity to censor those things.

//edit
owait I just found out you can make google more safer and protected in that control thingy they had! SO I guess it's the parent's responsiblity to put in a safe search...

The long arm of the law is growing! It's amazing to think that the government can supboena Google's records given the fact they (Google) are not named in the litigation that surrounds this issue. *shivers*
