Here's a fun page detailing some secret developers-only levels in Super Mario Bros. 3. There's a room full of tanooki suits!

Tanooki suit was cool, but the boot was the best. But turning into stone was a good power.

The fact that game is so absurd makes it so enjoyable. There's hardly any replay value to the game; you're right on that one.

Just read the whole thread, I've played every one of these games with the exception of like two. I need a life.

Anyway, can't miss classic games:

Duke Nukem
Duke Nukem 2
Duke Nukem 3D
Doom
Quake
Unreal
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 3
Wolfenstein 3D
Xenophage
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Abuse
Prince of Persia
Alien Syndrome
Alien Carnage
2400 AD
Catacomb Abyss
Grand Theft Auto
Galshell - Blood Red Skies

Some of these aren't that old, but still keep the same feel as the classic DOS games.
