DEADLINE : January 8

i have to write this report on Steroids and i`m having a hard time finding information about it.

Things I need to know:

[X]1. What are street names for steroids?
No specific street names but there are a lot of different brands. Some of the common trade names include Durabolin (Nadrolone), Stanozolol and Dianabol.
Steroids (anabolic steroids, roids, gear, juice) are a large group of compounds found in all animals.

[x]2. What type of drug is it?
The type of steroids that can build muscle and increase body size are known as the anabolic androgenic steroids.
Anabolic androgengic steroids are similar in chemical structure to the male sex hormone testosterone. These types of steroids enhance muscle growth and also stimulate the development of male characteristics.
A group of molecules that includes cholesterol. The sex hormones estrogen and testosterone are built from steroids, as are many modern anti-inflammatory drugs.

[x]3. What type of person usually takes this drug, and why?
Steroids are often used illegally to increase the performance of competitive athletes of almost all age groups.

[X]4. How is your drug taken?
They can be taken in the form of tablets, and are also injected.
Anabolic steroids are taken orally or injected, typically in cycles of weeks or months (referred to as “cycling”), rather than continuously. Cycling involves taking multiple doses of steroids over a specific period of time, stopping for a period, and starting again. In addition, users often combine several different types of steroids to maximize their effectiveness while minimizing negative effects (referred to as “stacking”).

[x]5. What kind of high does this drug give?
steroids don't give much of a 'high' feeling, but more like a feeling of getting really pumped, like your ready to work out.

[x]6. What are some side effects caused by this drug?
Steroids can stunt growth in children and young people and can cause liver damage at any age. Side-effects in men may include a reduced sex drive, lowered sperm count, a reduction in the size of testicles and even the growth of breasts. Heavy, regular use in women can lead to the development of body hair, a reduction in the size of breasts and a deepening of the voice. These effects may be irreversible even after steroid use has ceased. If the drugs are injected with shared equipment, then there are the added dangers of contracting HIV and hepatitis.

Can make users feel aggressive so they can train harder. They can also help users to recover more quickly from strenuous exercise.
Steroids can make pimples pop up and hair fall out. They can make guys grow breasts and girls grow beards. Steroids can cause livers to grow tumors and hearts to clog up. They can even send users on violent, angry rampages. In other words, steroids throw a body way out of whack.
Steroids do make users bulk up, but the health risks are high. It's true, on steroids biceps bulge; abs ripple; and quads balloon. But that's just on the outside. Steroid users may be very pleased when they flex in the mirror, but they may create problems on the inside. These problems may hurt them the rest of their lives. As a matter of fact steroid use can shorten their lives.

For teens, hormone balance is important. Hormones are involved in the development of a girl's feminine traits and a boy's masculine traits. When someone abuses steroids, gender mix-ups happen.
Using steroids, guys can experience shrunken testicles and reduced sperm count. They can also end up with breasts, a condition called gynecomastia.
Using steroids, girls can become more masculine. Their voices deepen. They grow excessive body hair. Their breast size decreases.

[x]7. How is it sold? How much does it cost?
Gyms and body-building clubs are places anabolic steroids are bought and sold.
These drugs are available legally only by prescription, to treat conditions that occur when the body produces abnormally low amounts of testosterone, such as delayed puberty and some types of impotence.

[x]8. Is your drug legal for any one?
A number of anabolic steroids are Class C drugs. This means that they’re only available on prescription for medical use. It is not an offence to be found in possession of them in small quantities, but possession with intention to supply to others is an offence.

[x]9. Is it a gateway drug?
After previous users quit steroids, they can feel as if they still need to fulfill a dependency, making steroids a gateway drug.
[x]10. Is it readily accessible for teens?
Unless teens have a prescription (which is highly doubted), they don't have many ways to get them, other than some adults.
[x]11. Where do students usually get it?
Students can get it from elders, and some that have the actual prescription to it.
[x]12. Is this drug used at raves?
No this drug is not used at raves.
[x]13. If a close friend told you that they started using this drug, what would you do?
xxxxxxxxxxxxx

[X]Other interesting information on this drug you find.
There are many different types of steroids, including: corticosteroids, anabolic steroids, androgenic steroids, oestrogenic steroids, progestogenic and anti-inflammatory steroids.

i`d really appreciate some information, i know i know, i`m supposed to do this by myself, but i`m really having a hard time finding information.
