Yes. A broken connection will most likely kick you off of AIM unless it is very brief.

Well, your real IP starts with a 69.243.**.***, but we don't need that.

I assume that's cable. How are you connected? Wireless? Through a router? Directly to the modem?

If it's temporary, it will probably reconnect on its own, since you have broadband with a router.
