alright well since everyone says "
GO SEE A DERMATOLOGIST" whenever
ACNE is mentioned, i'd like to know what it's like for those who do have dermatologists.
1. how much does the first acne check-up cost?
2. for the prescribed creams and such, do you have to pay them separately?
3. please share your experiences.
i'm mainly worried about the costs 'cause my parents already deal with enough crap from me (braces, prom, drivers ed, contacts--you know)... and this acne problem just really affects my self-esteem.
thanks

it's pretty cheap in taiwan. and we get covered by medical insurance, so, my answer to your questions would be inaccurate. it's about the same "price" as a doctor's checkup for us.

1. how much does the first acne check-up cost?
for me, it was about 100 dollars
2. for the prescribed creams and such, do you have to pay them separately?
the doctor gave me pills which were 10, and the creme was 90
3. please share your experiences.

I don't go to a dermatologist, but often a doctor can do the same for you as a dermatologist can. They'll refer you to a dermatologist if the condition is really bad.

With my mom's insurance, it's 10 dollars each visit and 10 dollars for each prescription.

I have a dermatologist, but I have no idea about the price, since my insurance covers it.
Honestly, she says the best thing to do is wash your face every night before you go to sleep with a gentle cleanser and if you use lots of makeup, try to get concealer that heals acne, because others clog up pores and cause it. Also, if you sweat a lot, you may need to wash your face more often!

I don't have one.
Acne isn't really a problem for me though. I just rub some Nivea Soft cream on it, and it usually disappears within the next 3-4 days.

i dont have one. my skin isnt the best but i dont break out. i may get 1 or 2 pimples here and there with a little bit of acne. i dont really think a dermatologist is regquired unless you have a severe skin problem. if youve tried tons of products to help your skin and none of them have worked, then i say go to one.

Yeah, I used to have one. Like, they would do use this exfoliant on me first, then steam my face for like ten minutes..then put this acid stuff to clear up the junk in the pores.
It left my face bright red all weekend. =/
