Oh, don't go the jewelry route unless you really, really know what you are doing. I've been burned on that a few times.

^i agree. jewelry usually isn't the best choice. something you know that the girl you're giving a present to would like is the best way to go.

girls are really picky on scents too. make her something or just get her something she's been having her eye on for ages (unless it's too expensive)

clothing is a good idea too I think. That's what I said to my bf anyway.

Depends on how well you know the girl (ie: is she just a friend, or a girlfriend?)
Get her something she needs or wants (unless it's really expensive). Get her a stuffed animal. Or, you can make her something, girls (or at least I do) like it if they get something handmade because it shows that you took time out to make it.

I think it's sweet if it's something you make yourself. Like, if you baked her cookies. I know it's kinda.. feminine, but hey, it means you put your heart into it and since girls are the ones that usually bake cookies at all, it's nice if you did that.

If I was a guy, I'd go learn how to fold origami stars and make her 1000 origami stars and put it in a jar. With 1000 stars, one can make a wish. :] It's sweet, romantic, and shows that you put your HEART into it. Well that's if you like the chick. :P
