how do i put a background image that stays the same size regardless of the computer screen u are using to view it? I used to make my LJ background 1028x768 (?) but when i use a larger screened monitor you see the ugly edges around the picture. how do i fix that?

You could make it stretch to 100%, but that would give you some ugly stretched out pictures in really large resolutions.

My advice is to start with something 800x600 and make the edges blend into one color, then set that color as your background color. Then, no matter how big your screen is, you still see the background the way it was meant to be seen (no stretching or skewing) and you don't get the sharp lines around the edges. The image just blends seamlessly into the background color.
