I used to have Dissociative Identity Disorder (previously known as Multiple personality disorder). I was lucky enough to be messed up at the right time to get the proper medicines and treatments. <3 I'm all better now.

How did you cope with that? I ask because, erm.. yeah.. My therapistorwhateveryouwannacallit (ugh) seemed to think I have tendancies or am at least extremely spaced out.

I'm diagose with Major Depressive Disorder, with Pyschosis. Still trying to cope with it. I thought I was schizophenic because the voices I hear are fake but the doctors told schizopheria people think the voices are real and cant determine what's real or not

Are eating disorders considered a mental illness?

I've been diagnosed as having depression and possibly A.D.D... I rarely take the depression medication though seeing as I'm already on five medications a day thanks to my stomach disease.

^ yes, eating disorders are considered mental illness'.

ADHD

Apparently, there is a correlation between substance abuse and ADHD, which is how I got diagnosed.

I used to be an alcoholic and an illicit substance abuser (coke, MDMA, MJ).

When I was diagnosed with cancer, I fell into a major depression that lasted for several years. I felt like I lost everything that I identified with and couldn't engage life for the longest time. It wasn't until I left Cali and quit looking backwards that life began again for me.

OMG. console.gif I'm so sorry!

I was also diagnosed with clinical depression 5 years ago (I'm on Zoloft), and then I was diagnosed with ADD just a year and a half ago. I honestly don't believe in ADD though. I view it as a mental variation, not necessarily a mental illness.

I've also been diagnosed with a sleep disorder and I'm on medication for that (Trazodone). Does that count as a mental illness?

And because of my sleep disorder, I can never get a good night's sleep, so I have to take Provigil to keep me awake in the daytime.

And I've been showing symptoms of bipolar disorder, so I'm going to have to get that checked out.

Ugh. My brain probably looks like a smashed grapefruit.

Depression, started when I was 13 but I have it under control with Effexor XR 175mg per day, once daily in pill form.

Now I'm starting to think I have a Panic Disorder, along with Social Anxiety. I've been asking my mom to make me a doctors appointment for the past 3 months, that way I can get treated and used to my medication before school starts. She finally made me an appointment last week, but it's not till 2 weeks AFTER school starts. sad.gif

Let's see...Depression, OCD, ADD, Anxiety, an eating disorder, an avoidant personality, and maybe multiple personalites.

I was diagnosed with depression when I was in middle school. It got so bad that I was having anxiety attacks and throwing up at least twice a day. The depression made it easier for sickness to get in so I always had a stuffy nose or a cough. My doctor told my mom to get me a therapist but my mom declined and I just took cough syrup for the colds.

I got over it eventually. thumbsup.gif
