I'm working on this paper that's due tomorrow Wednesday and I'm in stuck in writer's block.

If you were a teacher and had to grade a paper written about first impressions in a short story ("Lichen" by Alice Munro) what questions would you be looking for your student to ask/answer?

For example:

What function do first impressions perform in “Lichen?”
How do first impressions change in “Lichen?”
- for the reader and the characters
What is a first impression?

What first impressions are presented by the characters?
Umm...I was going to say originally how they change, but you have that.
What is the reader's reaction to first impressions in the story?
How does the first impression develop? (Is that more like your first question?)
