For me. I'm making one and having fun with it. I just want to know how many people have a webserver. Oh, and if you do, can you tell me what programs, OS you use? Thanks.




For me I use RedHat Linux 9. I wish I can have Enterpise now.

I'm too poor to pay for a server. Though, I'm saving up for one.

I mean.... your own webserver. Like you build one you know or setup one, not buy one... like on your client.

I had one... I'm lazy so I just used XP Pro. It's pretty good... I guess, and easy access for lazy people like me. No need to learn telnet and ssh. =)

Stats:
1. Dual 1.5GHz Xeon
2. 3GB Mem (forgot what kind)
3. 1TB HD Space (I'm damn proud)
4. Watercooled CPU, RAM, and HDs.
5. 10 Fans. (1 CPU, 1 PowerSupply, 4 Front, 2 Back, 2 Top)
6. 450Watt PowerSupply

... But then I noticed that my internet connection sucks and I just spent way too much money on a server that I can't even use. So I sold it. =)

So now I just rent dedicated servers =)~

You sold it? For how much?

$5,000... it was a while back, so it was worth alot more than it's worth right now (which probably is way below $5k.)

Uhm not to flame but HOW didu get dual xeons, 10 fans, watercooler system, and harddrives on a 450watt PSU.

I never said it worked That was the only power supply I had at that time, so I just shoved it in to take space. I never actually USED the server. -_- and I don't have it anymore.

I have a couple.

I have one, well sorta. My school has a few highspeed servers with a lot of space and they allocate accounts to each student. So I have about 200 megs of space and unlimited bandwidth and they support all files. I think they're running on RedHat Linux.

O_O that's a nice school you got there... Ours only has 10mbs and there's no http/ftp/ANYTHING access. =\

For cheap webserver:
... go to swap-meet and buy cheap comp parts and shove-em together..

=) But still, you also need a good connection to back up the server, or else it'll be useless -_- AND PLUS ELECTRIC BILLS!!

i personally don't have one, but i have access to one.
