ok... when we are taking a vote on an issue, all committee members vote 'aye' or 'nay' or abstain
which begs the question, do we think that we need a majority for an issue to be passed, or merely the highest numer of ayes or nays.
i'm, inclined to say that we need a majority, but that means it will be difficult to make decisions if we allow abstentions...

well the way we do it backstage is 60% of the mods have to agree when making changes.
i think itd be good to make it like that

ok, that means that at least 6 out of ten have to agree for a motion to be passed or rejected.
but that means that if even one person abstains, the vote cant go anywhere

i dont think any should abstain :\ one or the other. we only have 10 people so everyone should think real hard about it and choose one or the other!

yeah, before i read heathers post i thought it should at least be 6/10.

then that means that really, forthe sake of being able to make decisions, we will not have abstentions.
which actually, makes sense. people joined this committee because they care about CB, and hence should be willing to decide one way or the other for an issue
any major objections to that?

Nope. I like that.

should we discard that?

^ Well James came up with it in the first place when he suggest that sammi abstain her vote, oh well doesnt matter, I do think we all should vote......

I suppose, I'll get to my in vote later........6/10 to pass a vote right........

yeah, but since theres an even number of us, one person not voting can make it hard to pass.
and yes, its 6/10 vote.

Oct 23 2005, 04:10 PM
^yup.

Oct 23 2005, 05:43 PM
Haven't se been doing 6/10 already? Did we really need a topic for this?

yeah, it was stated there was a 6/10 vote.
racoons > you
Oct 23 2005, 05:44 PM
yes, we have, but that was before we had abstentions, which make it MUCH harder to get a majority on anything remotely controversial
so, if we are going o stick with 6/10 voting, we ough tto scrap abstentions
