whistling.gif yeah, does building muscle mass increase your metabolism? just wondering.
Tal_Dara
hmm i dunno man...I have a pretty high metabolism already. Like I eat like a friggin pig but gain no weight. I pretty much take that to my advantage in a way. I can eat whatever I want, not get fat and still work out and gain muscle mass. I am happy. In one weeks period after working out I already can results.

Fortunately I have a high metabolism. My weight doesn't go horizontal but it sure goes vertical. I'm 5'11" or 6' by now and I'm only about 125-130lbs. Most of that is muscle - I do a lot of stuff in the weight room at school during my free periods and I jog a lot around my home. Overall I think gaining muscle mass does increase your metabolism. But don't take it from us, contact a specialist. AKA your doctor.

Well. I have an abnormal metabolism. It's way high. I have to eat 6 meals a day. I eat alot, but I can never break the 115lbs line. =[ I want more flesh!!

it's how you eat. eat a lot of protein. if you eat 3 big meals a day, you can gain more weight. when you eat quickly.. you don't really digest your food properly. happens to me a lot. if you eat 6 meals a day, you're keeping your metabolism up. some people are genetically structured to be able to build muscle mass easier than others.

waccoon, do remember muscle weighs more than fat.

cut down on the snacking. eat portioned meals, which is hard to do. if you want to gain weight.. eat after you work out. therefore the protein you eat will help build up the muscles you just tore the f up. you gotta work on running. you know you burn 1.3 calories an hour when sitting, but around 3 or so when standing. you burn helluva lot more when you run. then understand when you run... you're sweating off water. we're what.. 90 percent water? so once you start drinking water again you're gonna gain some of it back. my friend went from a size 36 to 32 in like 3 months. his gf makes him not eat any snacks, and he's always at the gym. if you really wanna lose it.. trust me.. it's easier for you to bulk up now and look sexy than it is for us skinnier guys who just want some weight.

Eat lots of steak, or fish.

Eat eggs before you go to sleep, and after you wake up.

There's so many ways you can increase you're metabolism, but I don't think muscle mass increases it, because while you're trying to increase muscle you're going to want to increase your weight more and make all that extra fat into muscle. yes i know this because my brother is a body builder. whistling.gif
