Anybody else notices the 2nd guitarist in Green Day? You know, the guy that does the solo...spiked hair. Yea, just wondering if anybody know who he is, and I think he should just be the 4th member of Green Day.

i don't think he's exactly a 4th member. he's just there for backup music, like the other dude that plays the piano/accordian/etc.

He's there because they need an extra guitarist for certain songs...

If you notice he's never there in the music videos..

actually, he's in the "Wake Me Up When September Ends" video

maybe cause they use his tune for it so he gets the credit for that video. Its not like hes in every video even if he donset play in them.

uhmm I never said he was in ALL the videos. that kid said that he hasn't been in any of them and I was just informing him that the 4th "member" is in one video. and what do you mean "his tune"? Greenday writes all of their own music, that guy doesn't help them write any of it...he just helps play it since Billie Joe can't be playing two guitars at the same time...

if he is the back up then he plays his own guitar so its his tune Im not saying he wrote the music. Im not much of a fan to them but I know that.

^I doubt they'll make him a new member...I mean them three have been together for a long time...and plus they'd have to pay him more money [that he's getting for backup] if he becomes an actual member

All I'm saying is that, they've been carrying that guy around and everywhere that they might as well make him the 4th member. There's no shame in Billie Joe not playing solos. Most lead singers w/guitars play rhythm anyway. I remember when I saw them live, and they were playing Hitchin' a Ride, and Billie's arm wasnt going on the right rhythm as the solo in the song, so yeah then I saw the other dude. So yeah...what is his name?

He is not really a member of Greenday [technically, yes but no], they need another guitar [player] for their music to be harmonic. 3 guitars are better than 2 that is why many think they changed when they went mainstream.

I've only seen him in Wake me up when September ends.. actually thats the only time Ive seen this third guitarist. And, I just assumed it was to accompany the harmony like said..

Technacially, there aren't REALLY 3 members in Green Day.
They're actually a few more.
But Billie Joe, Tre, and Mike are the only one's you focus on.

His name's Jason White, and he plays on tour with Green Day as 2nd guitar. Billie Joe takes more of a rhythm guitar seat, so that he can run around he be his shexi self.

He's been playing with them since 2000's Warning album. he was wearing a pirate hat when I went watching them. Very cool.

...They introduce him and the rest of the band members that people don't know about at every show.
