we missed ONE day of school due to the katrina storm, now the school board wants us to make it up ON THIS saturday. it's ridiculus, why can't we make it up the end of the school year?
any of you guys have problems like this?

ahhh that SUCKS. if that happened to us, we'd have to make it up at the end of the year or have it count as a snow day.

that happened to us once, during another hurricane when i was like 10. we just ended up making it up after the last day of school. it wasn't bad, i think it was a thursday.

yes, I know! we always make up snow days and stuff at the end of school year, everyone, including the teacher is mad about it. Some peoples got job, some peoples just got better things to do

My middle school teacher said that one year instead of making up the snow days at the end of the year, they would lengthen the days during the last weeks.

School on Satuday is awesome. In fact, we should have more school.

Wow, on the weekend? That sucks. Anyways, no we dont have anything like that but last year my school had Saturday School but it was only for absences, to bring your grade up and stuff.

And what do you do if you're like me (I'm Messianic) and Saturday is Sabbath? That would be like telling a hardcore christian to make up school on a Sunday.

Isn't that against the curriculum? Unless there's an assigned date in the plan, isn't it not allowed that they make it mandatory (especially on short-notice) for you to attend school on a weekend?

Nope, but that sucks bad. Our school is just probably taking a day off from our Christmas break or Thanksgiving.

I'm not sure, but that's not our school's idea, it's the city board's, every school have to do the same thing. it's effin lame. never happen before for me neither, we aren't taking it so well

I have school at Saturdays all the time when I was in a private school and the summer was only 1 and a half month.

wtf? that is wrong. in new jersey, schools were cancelled for about 2-3 weeks due to snow. and you know what? we worked that off at the end of the year. meh. THIS CALLS FOR A COMPLAINT TO THE SCHOOL BOARD!

i would honestly skip. that's stupid. i remember my dad told me they used to have to do that, but when we miss for bad weather...it just gets added onto the end of the year.

I don't understand why they wouldn't just add it onto the end of the school year. That would never fly at my school with all the extracurricular activities planned on Saturdays and, plus, there would be a ton of irritated parents because some of their plans might have to get changed. However, I really don't think it's that big of a deal. Why not get it out of the way now?

this didnt effect us... i guess since im way up here, it doesnt get to us (ak) ^^... but anyway, i went to korean skool during summer vacation (sucked!) n there was school on saturdays except they ended at 1 PM
