Just cause of a bite of a sandwich...and she used like $63.50... well she must've been hungry. i mean lotta people are starving in the people who got hit by the hurricane. i dont know why she needed to go to jail case of that...... eesh.
i thought it was kinda funny when i read this news... i dont know if it's funny to you guys, but it was kinda funny to me.
lady eating sandwich "yumm this is delicious" and a cop came "raise your arm up!" and the ladys says "why?!" and the cop says "for not paying your food and just eating it!!" lady says "but m hungry!!" and the cop say "you go to prison!!"
i dont know why i found it funny. if you think i shouldnt laugh and leave nasty comments... my goodness, just keep it to yourself. some people laugh, let them laugh.

I don't laugh, I sigh at the stupidity of it all.
*sighs at stupidity*
I was watching the other night a speech that Bush made, and he said he understood if people were stealing food because they were hungry...to some degree.
Hopefully they fed her while she was in jail.

KENNER, Louisiana (AP) -- A 73-year-old diabetic grandmother and church elder who fled Katrina's floodwaters for the safety of a hotel ended up in prison instead for more than two weeks -- all over a bite of food.
that's pretty funny... but the police should start getting their facts straight.

I think you butchered the story. It says she was accused of
taking $63.50 worth in goods. There's a difference between using and stealing, and that changes a lot.
Also, it turned out that she never stole anything. She didn't eat a deli sandwhich. She was just getting salami from her car. Police arrested her in frustration after not being able to catch young looters.

Three more points:
1. What the hell, she's not even in jail anymore. A judge freed her. Did you actually read the article?
2. No one is dying for starvation. Starvation ~ death, you know. Not many people want it.
3. How would you know if many people are donating or not? People
are donating, you're just pulling facts out of nowhere now.

She got sent to jail because of that?!
That's just plain stupid.
I mean, c'mon now, she's hungry.
She got affected by Hurricane Katrina, and she was looking for food to eat.
I bet they wouldn't arrest a white man if he did that.

They're so irresponsible; arresting her for eating a sandwich?
I think that the looting has gone to their heads, I wouldn't blame them on that sole reason, but y'know.
The woman was hungry.

LET THE WOMAN EAT without getting disturbed and put into jail.

that's stupid. man, that cop should know his priorities! I think she should just serve community service if she got in trouble for not paying for a sandwich. that is crap, Bush, if this message get's to you, help your people,l you wouldn't want taht to happen to you.

thats horrible. poor grandma.
why arrest the elderly old woman w/ a bit of sausage than the younger, capable of looting and running people ?

Sep 17 2005, 10:52 PM
if i worked somewhere, i would have just given her food. woohoo a hole $63...i'll pay em back. they can take it out of my paycheck just because im trying to be nice to a woman that has no money, no house, and no place to go.
it seems she was wrongly accused though.
