okay i'm a really big anime fan ..but wth do these japanese worsd mean.. liek i'm searching through sum anime. and all these genras and stuf.. but i ahve no idea wut they mean

Shonen,Shojo,Ecchi,Mecha ,Parody,Yaoi and Yuri

those are terms for different genres of anime/manga

Shonen manga is for boys
Shoujo manga is for gilrs
Mecha--giant robots
Ecchi or Hentail is erotica
Yaoi--gay
Yuri--lesbian
Parody is a version of a published manga or manga characters. usually made to criticize the original storylines.

also, some japanese people do not like when others say "jap". they'd rather you say/spell out "japanese". just fyi.

oh i seee... thnx... wow.. japanese get offended by that wow.. didn;t know... that.. and i'm sorry.. i think.. next time i'll spell out it out as japanese.. instead of jap.

ps- Parody isn't a Japanese word lol And shoujo doesn't have to be for girls, it's just more light hearted stories with less action and more focused on romance and modern day characters. Shonen is filled with action, adventure, battles, blood, language, perversion, some subtle romance, and can take place in the past, future or an Alternate Universe (AU)

Um, I think this topic can be closed since the question's already been answered. And I never really thought of jap as an ethnic slur or something of that sort. It's just a shortening of the word.. It's hard to type out Japanese everytime.

some people think it's a kind of disrepect. i was blowned away by embarrassment by a japanese years ago when i said love "jap animation" to a friend. i thought maybe only that guy had a problem with it, but it seems quite a few share his sentiments. i just don't want someone else getting chewed out for saying "jap".

Haha thats why don't call it japanese animation and actually call it anime. Makes things a lot lot easier =P

About the racial slur, Jap is kinda a racial slur. If you want to say japanese, but shorter, I guess JP should be ok.

Actually Jap isn't always a racial slur and can be taken that way by people who don't like it. But that doesn't mean they meant it like that and it was stated they didn't mean for it to be a recial slur. o_O I've never been chewed out or found someone that cared that I spelt something 'Jap' it is a lot easier to type than 'Japanese.' And it's not always a racial slur if it's spelt out either. Like I said, just a way of shortening something like 'lol' or 'brb' it's just an easier way of saying it. oO Less typing and trouble involved.
