Okay, my digital camera records short videos, but when I go to upload the photos, that file doesn't show.

It's an avi file, and I need to know what software I should use or maybe what options I should use from software I already have so that I can upload the video onto my computer.

Thanks, Tammie.

What type of Camera, what type of software are you using to upload the photos & avi, and OS do you use?
oneandonlytammie
It's a cheap concord cam. Um, I usually use Microsoft Picture It but it won't seem to recognize that there is an avi file there...

convert it into a mpeg/mpg using the winavi video converter.
oneandonlytammie
Thanks. I'll check that out.

access it as a UMS device and drag and drop it to your hard drive.

what camera, as specific as possible, would help us help you.

Sorry, confused. Are you uploading avi's to the web? or DOWNloading them to your computer (from your camera)?

For Downloading:
Can you access your camera directly from "my Computer"? You should be able to see the avi files there, and be able to drag them to where you want them

^ well see, the problem with that, is her camera is probably not a UMS device.

probably a sony camera.

Thanks that's helpful for when I get it on there. But that still doesn't answer how to get it on there...

10. How do I transfer the images and videos stored in the camera to the PC?

Our cameras ship with photo editing software that makes it simple and easy to transfer pictures to  PC.  If your camera  has a mass storage driver, you may choose to transfer pictures without using the photo editing software.

1.  Download videos and images with the photo editing software bundled with the camera.
·  Please make sure to install the camera driver and photo editing software completely.
·  Power on the camera and connect the camera to the PC.
·  Launch the photo editing software.
Following is an example using PhotoImpression.
a. Power on your camera and connect the camera to the computer.
b. Launch PhotoImpression.
c. Click the Camera/Scanner button,  then click on the drop-down list under select source and choose your camera model.

d. Click on the camera scanner icon (Acquire button).  Another window will appear showing the contents (pictures) in the memory card and options on how to handle them.

e. Select the picture you would like to view, edit or save by clicking on it. The selected image will be highlighted by a border. You may also click on Select All to choose all pictures.
f. Click on Get Photos.  The pictures will then be added to your album at the bottom of the application.

g. Now you can edit, save, print or enhance your pictures using the buttons on the left hand side of the screen.

2.  Download the videos and images using the Mass Storage driver.
·  Please make sure the camera driver is installed completely.
·  Power on the camera and connect the camera to the PC.  Double click on MY Computer, and the Removable Disk Drive will be displayed.
·  Double-click the Removable Disk icon.  A window with the DCIM folder will appear on the screen.
·  Double-click the DCIM folder.  Drag and drop the files you want to save.
Following is an example using the mass storage or removable disk drive method.
a. Power on your camera and connect the camera to the computer.
b. Click on "My Computer" and the "Removable Disk" drive will be displayed.

c. Double-click on "Removable Disk", open the "DCIM" folder and then the "100DCIM" folder.
d. You can copy the still pictures or video clips to the designated folders in your PC.

That help any? and where are you trying to upload TO?

ahh.. missed the 'concord' as the type.

thought that was a brand name. which would have been about as helpful as 'oh it's a ford' when describing a car.

that looks helpful
