That sounds about right... This and that Cookie thing are just ways of baffling the person you're talking to so they don't know that you're actually insulting them. And then when that person actually realizes the meaning, he/she gets pretty pissed. Oh well... that's life.

I think it means:
You can't have a cake after you eat it. Therefore, you can't have it forever AND eat it. At the same time.
EDIT- hey whoa... i never thought of that before now. Funny.

There's a song called You Can't have your Kate and Edith too. That amused me a lot because my name is Kate. I should listen to the song one day.

I think it means the same thing, that you cant always get what you want, like if you want the cake thats in front of you, maybe you have to try and work hard for it.

It's like calling someone sweet.
"When bees flit from flower to flower the nectar sticks to their legs. The phrase "bee's knees" means sweet and good, because the knees of the bee are where all the sweet, good stuff is collected. "-Urbandictionary. haha

I figure maybe if you didn't have the cake, then you could eat it. Does that mean you'd be stealing someone elses' cake?
Melissa

So I finally figured this one out after randomly deciding to look it up.
It's supposed to be thought of as "You can't eat your cake and have it too," meaning that after you eat your cake, you can't keep having it because it's already gone.
Which makes so much more sense. Why couldn't they just say so? lol.
