Those are called "avatars"...you have one already...what do you want to know about it? You change it by going to "My Controls" then "Edit avatar settings"
 What questions do you have about it?

i think they are just like any other user icon.. for other forums, aim, livejournal.. just like a user pic? im actually not quite sure myself..

I believe that when there are things in 4 corners, it means you've posted in that area. When there's an H, it means the topic is "hot" or something, and the 8 or B looking thing means someone closed that forum topic. It happened to me a few times. I was angered.
