Car shopping blows... Currently have a problematic Honda civic. Yes I know it blows no need to add insult to injury...

I want people's opinion on cars and why YOU drive what you drive.
My current occupation is Valet so chances are I have driven most cars but nothing else pops into mind

Currently looking at a
2006 Mini Cooper Type S
Basically Im looking a drivers car that is practical easy to maintain and responds well to suspension mods. Price limit is 13grand

Mini cooper is far from easy to maintain. I'd pick up an old BMW if I was you.

I have a Red chevy tracker

Like This :D

Its really nice in the winter, since you basically need a really good snow car to get around (and not swerve around and get yourself in an accident or a ditch)

Got it nice and cheap (3.5k or so) and only 70k miles (or less) it had since it was made

perfect first car and just safe for me and my sister.

Probably not the type of vehicle the OP is looking for. I drive a Chevrolet, too, but I haven't had it long enough to be able to tell how maintenance is on it. But I'm glad I bought a safer car. I was actually t-boned by someone who ran a red light going about 50-55 mph and although it caused $10,000 worth of damage to my car but I was just fine.

Ouch, glad you were ok

Yeah I thought so too, but I thought just showing mine would help for ideas

I drive an 07 Scion TC. I like it a lot. Honestly, it has never given me problems at all. The only thing I ever had to take it in for was that the HVAC unit was having problems in the 07 models if I recall correctly.

I own a VW Jetta. It's almost 12 years old, but still drives like new. Great car -- light enough to get decent gas mileage, but heavy enough to hold corners really well, and it has a decent 174hp engine so it can glide into traffic easily.

Not incredibly easy to maintain, though. It's a bit complex for a 12-year-old car, and when stuff breaks, parts can be expensive, since some parts have to be imported from Germany. I'm having a problem with the coilpack right now (the coilpack is basically spark plugs + distributor cap combined into one unit) and unless I can fix it myself (which is time-consuming), it'll cost about $600 to replace.

i test drove a jetta like 5 years ago or something and thought it felt good. any friend i have ever had though who had VW has complained about parts and it took like 3 times as long to fix because of having to import parts.

Find yourself an Evo 8 if you're really that serious about autocross. Hell, just go to Craigslist and search JDM. I'm sure you'll find something.

Oh, and if you're willing to spend a bit more, a friend of mine is selling a 500hp BNR32. I'm not sure if it's a GT-R, but I can check. It's a street legal and I think it's registered in NC. You'll easily be one of the fastest JDM cars in Orlando.
