So, in the topic Jusun started a while ago some members mentioned bringing a blogging tool to cB. I brought this up backstage and it got some postive feedback so I figured I would bring forth the idea to everyone else and see what you guys think.

Since cB is Invison board based, Michael (mipadi) discovered that there is an actual blogging plug-in for cB to have a blogging tool.
The Plugin
Invision Board Blog Screenshots

For those that may not get the whole concept, here is some screenshots I took of a forum that has a similar thing:

They also have this cool, elobrate profile system, it's neat.

Meh, I think it would be something new and fun.

So, yeah...what do you think? Feedback would be great =]

There's a comic book forum I frequent that has something similar. I love it. It would be great to have a blogging system here. =)

I recognize that.. it's XMB, right? But yeah, it's cool that something similar is available for invision as well. I'd stop updating my livejournal if we had something like that. =x

Would it be bad decision to block guests from posting commenting in members' blogs?

^ I think that would be appropriate, I mean, they arent members so they dont deserve that privilege.

Oh, something I forgot to mention. There is this feature where members can also have their blog either private (for their eyes only) or only allow certain members to read and comment on them. They can also have where they can allow guest to view/ comment on their blog depending on their perference. So, yeah, it would depend on the owner of the blog as to whether they would want a guest commenting or not. Or the admins can disable the feature of having guest comment on blogs altogether.

Nah. If members are allowed to make that personal decision there's no reason for an admin to disable it. We just can't be blamed if someone starts to get tons of spam comments. Yeah, that's what I call them. Good feature/plugin.

Um. That's old to me. I've seen it in other forums.

About the blogging tool, does that replace our member info ?

Oh, will the encoder works for that blogging system ?

^ Maybe old concept to you but very new as far bringing to cB is concerned ;)

Also, I dont think it gets rid of user profile, you will still have them but you will have a more elborate profile with blog system profile which separate from your forum profile. At least thats how I understand it from I've read about it.

Lastly, I cant answer much questions about the technical side of it.

So basically a xanga but on CB? So... most members would have myspace, xanga, personal website, and CB blog? Or is it like a profile?

^ Did you read the links? It explains pretty much everything.

And no one has to blog, it an option for those that are interested in connecting with other members of the community.

I really like this idea, I think it will further CB as a community.
