Palin doesn't have the skillset to box with Biden. He pulls no punches and he has a certain whiskey-drinking edge about him that may overwhelm Palin in the debate.

the thing to remember is that biden (even though i am in love with the man and want him to tear palin apart)cannot be too harsh or attack her. when obama kind of attacked hilary during the debates when the two were running against each other, the poll numbers went down for him.

but after seeing the gibson and couric interviews, i just don't think palin has even enough information to answer certain questions. she'll probably say, "let me get back to ya on that!"

The debate overall was okay.
It wasn't by-the-edge-of-my-seat kind of debate, but I understand the solemn atmosphere.

Obama did well, I thought.
I didn't appreciate McCain reverting back to, "Senator Obama doesn't understand," or "He has no experience with..."

obama says all the time that mccain "doesn't get it" on a whole number of issues.

i think it's fine for both of them to say the other one doesn't understand if that's what they feel the other persons policies reflect.

i was watching cnn, and when mccain said obama just didn't understand, the line representing the independent voters dipped every time.

i agree, but some people will really be turned off if he is too overpowering (and with palin, who isn't?)

my thing is, even if she does an average job on the debate, people will think she's done a good job since everyone has low expectations of her anyway. and if biden does a less than average job, people will think he did a poor job because people have higher expectations of him. GR.

Speaking of news, I've become a huge fan of BBC, but they don't cover our elections too well. From a foreign perspective, the American Presidential race is a circus. From the outside looking in, all the antics, the stoic insults, and the money spent campaigning supports that claim. Ron Paul doesn't have a chance, and he has yet to catch up with the times (although I respect the man a great deal), so I feel as though Obama can be the one to break this chain of foolishness.

When it came to the debate, he stood his ground, but both candidates were extremely vague. All it proved is that they disagree on so much and have a distinct professional resentment for one another. For the next debate, Obama is going to have to attack McCain, to an extent. He's going to have to call the geezer on his bullshit if he wants to get anywhere. The reason why that strategy didn't work with Clinton is because her political interest, and appeal, was a hell of a lot more widespread than McCain. Right now, it's a toss up unless someone plays the big Joker and pulls the rest of the spades.

Chances are, Biden may be that variable to change up the game and move things in Obama's favor, that is, if he doesn't have to put his foot in his mouth by saying something that could easily be twisted by the media (damn you, Fox News).
