Okay, so I'm a junior in high school. And yesterday my friend and I, in art class, were doing art, and I just had this great idea of doing like a benefit art show/silent auction to raise money for the HEROS program, since I'm also involved with Model United Nations. So we had this great idea to rally up the artists in the school and showcase art work while maybe putting a few pieces up for auction. So I was really happy. And then my other friend comes to me and literally just flat out calls my idea STUPID. She was like it's not going to work, and it's going to be a waste of time. Basically, I got really mad, because I don't even feel like she has the right to say those things to me. She is not involved in school WHATSOEVER. But that brought my self esteem down a lot. I guess it's because a lot of the things she said made sense, like no one is really interested in art and who would donate art pieces? But honestly, I already kept that in the back of my head. I just wanted to TRY.. for the AIDS-stricken children in Africa. What do you think? I mean, do you think what she said is right and that I'm really being unrealistic? Or should I give it a try? Even if it's not successful, at least I tried... right?

I think that it's a fine idea. Screw what your friend said. Who cares if it isn't totally successful? Go with your idea and your instinct on this.

well I think it's a good idea thumbsup.gif actually, a couple of kids at my high school did this last year, except they donated art pieces to raise money for North Korea... and it worked out pretty well, so I think you should give it a shot
