I've heard things about shampoo being extremely unhealthy for hair, and loads of people have been switching to "all natural" things.

That's not going to stop me from using it.

BUT,

I take a shower in the mornings, then in the afternoon I go for runs, then come home and shower again. Wake up, shower again- repeat..

Is it bad to wash your hair twice a day?
I mean after I go for a run and shower im at home and theres really no need for me to use it, but it just like to, makes me feel clean O_O and conditioner=no tangles.

But yeh, so my question- Is it unhealthy for your hair to wash it twice a day?

You're supposed to wash your hair once every other day, more if you have dry hair like I do.

there are some ingredients you don't want in your shampoo too. I think sodium is one of them...

^ You're probably thinking sodium laureth sulfate (you would be able to tell if there was sodium in your shampoo...you can tell by how the bottle has exploded in your hand...lol). I don't even think it's terribly dangerous, just maybe indicative of a crappy shampoo.

I hate rigid quantitative rules when it comes to health...I mean, just do whatever you want and you feel suits you. If you notice that your hair is annoyingly dry when you wash your hair too often, then stop washing it that often. It's a better idea to listen to what your own body is telling you than subscribing to some quack doctor's advice that has gone viral on the web.

Of course, the general consensus is to wash your hair once every other day to prevent drying out the hair too much, but do what you want.

fyi elemental sodium explodes when it touches water, and is highly unstable. It's kept in kerosene to keep it from violently exploding.

I shampoo every day. My hair gets really oily and flat when I don't... but one the weekends when I don't have many plans I'll usually just wear my hair up and skip the washing. I do make sure that I always put something in my hair to protect it when I blow-dry it.

Deng you shampoo twice a day? Your striping your hair of its natural oils. "/ I wash every other day with head&shoulders (2 in 1)...You should try this product called "wen" it looks pretty good and its good for your hair too. Btw is it bad to use 2 in 1 shampoos?

Like Gigi said, whatever works for you; it just depends on personal preference, as there is no SYSTEM that you should follow. Lately I haven't even been using conditioner because I feel that my hair's weighed down by it. Also, sometimes my hair feels oily by the end of the day (regardless of weather) when I used conditioner the night before. I noticed that my hair feels fuller (maybe even with a bit of volume) and softer when I skip the conditioner. Of course I'm using PM tea tree oil shampoo right now. Sometimes I will use my dove cool moisture shampoo as well, and they're both effective.

My hair DOES get oily if I don't wash it for a day, so I feel it's best to wash it everyday. Washing it twice a day did feel drying for me though, but I did that whenever I went to the beach. I would wash my hair after going to the beach, and then wash my hair again later that night.

Once again, it depends on personal preference. The great thing about using 2-in-1 is that it's more time-efficient, and the consistency is more like shampoo. So basically you just massage into your scalp and then rinse. I think this is optimally more efficient for people with shorter hair.

However, if you have longer hair, and religiously shampoo and condition your hair in a certain way, it is better to have separate shampoos and conditioners. With longer hair, you really only need to use shampoo on your scalp (remove dirt and oils), but once you rinse it out, the shampoo cleans out excess dirt and oil from the rest of your hair as it runs down your hair (read this in a magazine). Then when you condition, use conditioner a few inches away from your roots. When I do decide to condition, I put most of it on the ends of my hair (the most dry), and just rub the rest upwards. With a separate conditioner, you can control how much conditioner you use (more with longer hair). Also, with dryer hair, you should be leaving the condition in for at least a minute so that it can soak into your hair shaft (or whatever it's called).

Hope this helps. Some of this is from magazines that I've read (which all virtually say the same thing one way or another).

if your shampoo has sodium laurel sulfate (or sodium laureth sulfate) ... and like 99.999999% of all products have that.. then you probably shouldn't use it.

I shampoo everyday.
My teacher told me that there are natural oils in your hair/scalp that you want to "preserve" so to say and the more you like wash or shampoo the more they will go away.
