What do you guys cook on Thanksgiving day? Any home recipes?
This year my fam's going to cook:
  • Both types of turkey (dark & white)
  • Green Bean casserole
  • Oven baked mac & cheese
  • Pumpkin, Apple, and Lime pie
  • Roasted ham
  • Mashed potatoes and gravy
  • Sweet potatoes
  • Stuffing
How long does it take for you to cook your feast? Do you keep leftovers?

Turkey, duck, ham and then there are usually 2-3 kinds of different carols, potatoes and gravy, stuffing. Apple, chocolate, lemon, cherry pie. Then a few other random desserts/side dishes.

I never help cook it so I don't know how long it takes to cook all this ish.

Much of that list we cook as well. We don't cook mac and cheese though, there's already enough starch! Pumpkin pie for sure, but replace the apple and lime for lemon meringue and pecan pie (or chess, which I'm fairly new to). No ham (I don't eat red meat or pork). I love sweet potatoes. Has to be made with fresh sweet potatoes and not that canned stuff. I also make cranberry sauce, which is much better than the canned variety. I've recently purchased a potato ricer and really look forward to using it.

We get creative with stuffing too. Always use sage sausage (turkey sausage), cranberries, walnuts and sometimes apples (though my mom doesn't like apples in the stuffing). I prefer using whole wheat bread crumbs.

In my experience, there's never such a thing as too much gravy.

in our familly we do puerto rican food in addition to traditional thanksgiving food. here's our menu:
Pernil
arroz con gondules
turkey
stuffing
potato salad
salad
gravy
lots of baked desserts
biscuits
sweet potatoes
cranberry sauce

usually we start cooking the night prior and continue thanksgiving day at 5am so that the turkey and everything else is done by 2pm.

Hokay so I'm pretty sure our dinner consists of what all white people eat on thanksgiving:

Turkey
Sometimes duck
Stuffing
Cranberry Sauce
Gravy made from the turkey grease (it's not really gross if you know how gravy's made)
Biscuits
Cherry Pie
Pumpkin Pie

this is pretty much what my family cooks. I don't think it takes them very long but I wouldn't know since I don't cook any of it. My parents take home the leftovers but I'm a 'picky' eater so I don't really eat any of it lol.
