Fanboy smh. Give me a reason that you don't want AMD products.

also throwing together an intel/ati build, because nvidia cards are stupid expensive, and I haven't done an intel build in a long time.

also when will you be buying and what will you be doing with it?

I dislike AMD because they lost me thousands of dollars in the stock market. I also dislike ATI because they are owned by AMD.

I am buying as soon as I decide on the parts and I am building it for CoD4 Modern Warfare 2.

f*ck you're picky.

unless you're buying i7 and gtx 285 or more powerful, ati/amd is better for price:performance.

Buying Intel/nvidia instead of ati/amd is like buying a Bugatti when you can have an SSC Ultimate for a million dollars less, and still have about the same top speed and acceleration.

Also dual 4890 > gtx 295 and PII 955 > Core 2 Ultimate (and usually i7 920) and intel will lose you money when buying.

also I'll play your game. I'll throw together an intel/nvidia rig for you, because it's not my money.

Ok, prove it to me. If you can save me the money you're saying with the same performance for the system I have listed above using AMD/ATI, I will get the AMD/ATI system.

And you can save another $50 by ditching that thermaltake you picked and getting something like the Antec 300, which is praised as being one of the best ATX mid tower cases, right up there with the HAF 922.

Medic,

You're asking us to price out a budget gaming computer without giving us the opportunity to use parts that will give you the biggest bang for your buck. This is a complete waste of time.

You're an Intel/NVidia whore as well. When did ATI fail you? 3-4 years ago, before they completely changed.

Don't bother accusing me of being a fan boy. My computer has an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 this processor was a great deal at the time. While ATI had their 3000 line (which totally sucked) out, I was loving my GeForce 9600GT 512MB. This Christmas I upgraded to a 4850, because ATI's 4000 series just knocks the pants off NVidia's 200 series in $/FPS.

At the moment, ATI/AMD is the way to go. Ten years ago, Intel/Ati was the way to go. Up until about eight months ago, it was Intel/Nvidia. I'm sure in another year or two, Intel/Nvidia will be the best choice again.

Don't accuse me of being a fanboy either. I'm rocking a Q6600 and a 9800 GT right now. If I could swap it out for a 955 and a 4890x2, I would do it, but equal or only slightly greater, no way.

That's an extra 30 dollars over what I went with. I would have to really skimp on the mobo to switch to that, and the mobo is something I really don't like to skimp on.

Also, regarding the original build, Q8xxx is Intel's worst series of quads. The only real gems out of Intel's quads are the Q6600 and the Q9550, and the Q6600 has gotten so expensive lately, you're better off getting the Q9550.

Experience my good man. From building my ow machines and building people their machines. Between AMD and ATI I've lost nearly $3k because my stupid past clients made the decision of AMD and or ATI.

Again this is from personal experience... I used to love AMD but my god... wtf happened after 2003?! I remember building my first two machines for family members and they had AMD. They worked flawlessly, but after that... literally after 2003, almost every other machine would perform badly even after reseating the processors and RAM repeatedly. And WTF is with the AMD temperatures?! Screw that...

Seriously avoid AMD, they've gotten sloppy and what seems to me, careless.

As for ATI again, another manufacturer that has failed me and cost me serious money, which is part of the near $3k in loss. Horrible drivers and horrible hardware. I've had many ATI cards die on me within hours after installation. I highly doubt I'm doing something wrong with the installation. And ATI generally runs too hot and too loud. I don't want an oven for a computer.

I want a machine that can perform great and AMD + ATI together is not going to meet my criteria. I've learned to make the customer aware that if they want AMD and or ATI that I am not responsible for any failures of any sort. And if it does fail that I will not pay out of pocket to replace that part, they will need to purchase it on their own and I'll replace the parts for half off.

And Buttsex.. you have it backwards. 10 years ago AMD was the product to go with... FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

AMD met Intel's expectations for nearly half the cost, that's what made AMD great but once they got into the mid 2000s they f*ckin fail in quality.

What are you talking about, up until the i7, for every generation since the pentium pro, AMD has always been faster.

"The candle that burns the brightest.. always burns out first"...specs of parts aren't everything guys they usually tend to overheat your comp or burn out.(overclocking, overheating, melting, exploding, improper casing)

Regardless of popular belief. The technology field will keep adapting and no matter how far you go to get the best quality there will always be something better.

It's like your on drugs and your looking for the next best thing. please just dont go broke doing it.

As dumbed down is this is, it's at least partially correct, but not in any way relevant to the amd/ati vs intel/nvidia argument.

I went with my Intel build and I am not looking back.

I have built 6ish Intel systems, and with ALL of them I have never had to RMA or send back a single part. When I built my first AMD system, I had to RMA the Processor the DAY I got it, not to mention it ran hot as hell even with a Big Typhoon heatsink. I will, and will continue, to say a quick f*ck YOU to AMD as long as I live.

They suck in the server market and f*cked me in the consumer market, so I have no intention on purchasing any of there products in the near future.

I saved money too, thanks American Express!

Unlucky. I've only built 2 Intel/Nvidia systems that went completely right the first time. I've built tons of AMD/ATI systems that went perfectly.

(I'll give you that in one of my failed intel builds, I used a cheap PSU, but I do that sometimes with AMD builds too)

I haven't had any bad luck with AMD, ATI, or Intel. Intel just doesn't have the bang for buck. I have however burned out plenty of NVidia cards. I still kept buying them though. NVidia cards were the best at the time. Now they just aren't. I promote what I believe is the best.

Honestly, the only place Intel should dominate AMD is in workstations and servers.

Also, now that you mention it, I've never burned out an ATI card, but I go through Nvidia cards quick.

Yeah, I burned out a 6600, 7600, and 9600... Now that I think of it. I only purchase X600 cards. Again, probably because they offer the biggest bang for buck. :P

LOL, two negative reviews in a row... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814150388... 100% negative reviews!!! xD LOL
