Since so many students are going off to college, I thought it would be a good idea to list some good brands of laptops with certain perks that go well with college life. Obviously, the cost would be a good note to mention.

So any college people or people out of college mind to mention a few things? heck, you could mention things that are great to have going into/in college.

go.

Macbook.
1300$
13.3 inches.
All the space speed you'll need.
Or pay and extra 700$ for an extra 7 inches.
Macbook pro.
And if 13.3 inches is too small and 200$ is too much.
Than look for for some pc's at sam's club. They have great deals.
But when buying pc's ram is an issue. If it has vista it needs atleast 3gb of ram to run not slow.

I advise against an HP Pavilion in the 6000 series. A lot of people have this laptop on my campus. A lot of my floormates had them too. All of them have a lot of complaints. They play games and the best video card option is still not good enough. I use Photoshop and it's VERY slow on this computer. The webcam is schizo.

Like JosephCohen said, if you get a laptop with Vista make sure it has a good amount of RAM. Also, check the model. Some places have computer models that came out before Vista or very soon after Vista was released. Those computers probably can't keep up with some of the software demands so make sure you get a relatively new model with a good bit of RAM.

My boyfriend has a Lenovo/IBM laptop. They are pricey but it runs fast and very durable. Also, it has a lot of upgrade options.

I have a Hp tablet laptop, I love it, except that it overheats after a while because the vent/fan thing is only at the top right corner of the laptop.

:/ Remember cooling pad!

What would be a good laptop if I'm going to be storing all my music, pictures on there and be making graphics with Photoshop CS2 and also for school?

I need one that doesn't get infected by viruses easily but not really hard to use, my sister has a Macbook but she dislikes it.

Well, for Macs, viruses aren't really an issue.

Just get a good anti-virus program and run it regularly. Whether or not it gets infected easily depends entirely on you and how you set up your computer.

As for a laptop for those simple processes, I suggest an Acer because those are hella cheap. You might also want to check Tiger Direct or Costco to find a simple laptop. I wouldn't suggest getting one with Vista because you have to pump up the RAM which might increase the cost.

You pretty much described a Mac right there. Your sister probably dislikes it because she's a diehard Windows user and doesn't care for the aesthetically pleasing details of life.

I'm joking. Sort of.

I have a Macbook and I think it's great for university. It's light and nice to look at. It starts up and shuts down quickly so you can sprint out of class and get to your next class on time. Everything is intuitive and easy to use, not clunky at all. Overall just a sleek machine that gets the job done. Plus, I like not having to worry about viruses.

The operatng system linux cant get viruses. You could get a cheap cp with vista which usually come with a lot of ram and then put on linux and it will be crazy fast!

Well, I wouldn't mind getting a Mac except my dad would probably make me use my sister's and she would get a new one.
