So I am in need of a new desk top. The only problem is is that I am completely and utterly computer retarded. So help me yeah?

Would like it to be a pc. I have no idea what my budget would be but I would say $700 maybe 800? Needs to be able to run the sims 3, other than that I just have my adobe junk, and music.

Yeah, like I said I'm computer stupid and have no idea about anything.

Also, never buy from these brands.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16883103219 Q9400, 8Gb DDR3 RAM, and GT 230 graphics, $800 + S&H
This thing is a good workstation PC, and can handle most light games.

If you want to play something a little more GPU intensive(aka not sims 3), you can pay another $90 and get a 9800 GT to stick in it.

^I agree, I own the SIMS 3, and it's not a game that just any PC can play. In fact, the SIMS 3 is more demanding than Crysis (the most graphic intensive PC game available). You're going to need at least an ATI 4850 or NVidia 9800 to play it on a decent setting.

The following cards will be able to crunch that game out:
  • GTX 295
  • HD 4870 X2
  • GTX 280
  • GTX 285
  • HD 4850 X2
  • 9800 GX2
  • GTX 260
  • GTX 275
  • HD 4870
  • HD 4890
  • 8800 Ult
  • 9800 GTX
  • 9800 GTX+
  • GTS 250
  • HD 3870 X2
  • HD 4850
This game is also very CPU intensive. It's crashed my computer a few times. Based on your budget and your goal (to play the SIMS 3), my suggestion to you is to build a computer. You can do it.

Before I go and spend thirty minutes throwing something together on newegg, I want to make sure you're willing to build.

Also Sims 3 is pretty demanding, but to say it's more demanding than Crysis is just stupid.

No, I have both and Sims has crashed and burned my PC far more than Crysis ever has. Sims uses a high poly count to achieve its graphics and Crysis uses bump mapping and other lighting tricks to achieve its grpahics. Also the Sims uses far more CPU than Crysis.

Also, I'll do a barebone system, so you don't have to worry about screwing up as much.

I'm actually using a Dell. I haven't had any trouble, however I hate how they invert their MoBo's. You cannot fit monster video cards in their machines without serious modifications. I need to purchase the following:

Corsair H50 - to decrease the size of the heat sync.
Thermalright HR-03 GT - to invert the heat sync on the GPU

Just to fit a 4890 in my computer case.

It's good to know that people believe that I make money building computers.

It's also good to know that people laugh at their own jokes.

Also I decided not to put shit together from a barebone system, because they typically don't have a lot of options.

Also what parts do you already have? keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers?

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/PublicWi...tNumber=7394549

8 Gb DDR3 1333, 770 mobo, PII 720, 500 Gb 7200 RPM HDD w/ 16 Mb cache, 550W Xclio, Vista home premium x64. With current promos, it's approximately $755 including shipping.

Also someone check over my build, make sure I didn't do anything stupid, like mismatched mobo/cpu/ram or something.

And to make it even worse... LAWL

You add a freakin OEM version of Windows Vista... Service Pack 1. FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL FAIL!!!!!!

What exactly are you doing?!

Obama is not even remotely related to this argument.
Fairly average motherboard that only supports DDR3 ram, what did you want me to use?
You know nothing about PSUs apparently. What do you think I need for this?
Reviews don't mean much, half the people that put reviews on Newegg are idiots.
What's wrong with OEM? Do you even know what OEM is?
Nobody carries Service pack 2.

lol... I don't know anything about power supplies and what OEM is. Yet you're building a custom machine with a shitty motherboard with 8GB of ram and RAM model that's known to be sketchy.

Is there anyways I can block you? Your stupidity pisses me off.

Tama, shut it. This kid obviously knows what he is doing. How many unsuccessful builds have you had? I trust him.

He cj, no point in making another thread for it, could you make me the cheapest computer you can on newegg? I already have monitor, mouse, keyboard, and an os. Dont leave out the optical drive or anything but make the cheapest computer you can.
