Touchpad on laptop. If I feel like I need a mouse, I just use my tablet. I don't even own a desktop, but if I did...

^Wtf, how would you type on the second one?

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 03:18 PM

^ What do you mean? It's just a touch screen.

i never got why people spent that much on either a mouse or a keyboard. i don't get what special shit people need. my mouse is just a little 20 dollar portable logitech one. i never think about my mouse or see how any other mouse could be that much better. i guess there are probably really amazing ones that i don't know about. but for instance at school i use a mighty mouse and i don't get how it's any better than this 20 dollar shit i use at home. i don't see any difference. actually i think i like the one i use here better.

Some are more comfortable on the hand, wireless (going for range and battery time) vs mechanical vs optical (a must-have for gamers) vs biometric (built in fingerprint scanner) vs bluetooth, some have three to four buttons plus a scroll, then you've got trackballs (which are suuuuper nice on the arm, I have one), etc. There's also a factor of resolution for mice. The higher the dpi resolution, the more precise and smooth your mouse will be on screen (gaming mice are usually set at least 1600dpi where as normal ones are only abut 400 - 800 dpi). Ever seen a http://www.shopwiki.com/Evoluent+Vertical+Mouse+2?

As for keyboards, the same general idea applies. My mum's got a keyboard that's curved with an empty space between the left and right hands, and it's sooo comfortable. Much nicer to type on, especially when writing papers and spending hours at a time on it. It's the http://shop.syntech.co.nz/catalog/images/prodimg/img15456.jpg.

It's all about comfort, usability, and of course features.

If you design or code professionally, I bet you anything that one-touch feature on the Optimus Maximus allowing you to open and switch between the essential programmes makes the workflow so much smoother and quicker.

How will you be able to see what keys you are inputting though? Unless you can touch-type.

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 04:02 PM

^ Dude did you even scroll down the page? You can programme the thing to look like whatever you want. "Any part of the keyboard surface can be programmed to perform any function or to display any images." There's even Video Mode.

Posted by: brooklyneast05 Oct 24 2009, 04:04 PM

yeah i guess i don't have comfort issues. it seems all the same to me. i'm not that uncomfortable while typing on my normal laptop keyboard. to make my workflow easier then i just use keyboard shortcuts to rotate between programs and windows.

ive seen the first one. and i guess the second is only good for people who look as they type. but only noobs do that. and a noob wouldnt spend a million dollars on a keyboard. so it fails.

then try using some of the mice i have. maybe its a dpi thing cause it acts like it only works on small resolutions cause its like its taking tiny jumps. i totally see your point though.

maybe ill just get that ten dollar microsoft one. those are spiffy.

How the f*ck does it, showing the keys, differ from any traditional keyboard?! No matter what kbd you get, you're going to see the letters (unless you scratch them off or in the case of reprogrammables, hide them). The kbd doesn't fail, you fail. It wins for complete changeability.

And about your OP...idk what's going on with that weird bar on the top of the second keyboard. It looks useless.

Posted by: jcp Oct 24 2009, 05:45 PM

naw because to type without looking you have to feel the texture of the keys. and thats why there are small spaces between keys. also the f and j key on all keyboards have a small bump so you can find your fingers back to the keys when you arent looking. and if it all one flat surface i dont see how they could do that.

also i added another keyboard and mouse. having a real hard time deciding.

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 05:57 PM

You seem not to care so much about what it does...and they all do the same basic thing anyway. Just close your eyes and pick at random (or generate a bit of PHP to pick one for you, if you so desire...). Or pick the prettiest.

Third mouse, white keyboard.

Posted by: jcp Oct 24 2009, 06:17 PM

why would i care? and i want to use it to type. i will let my monitor display my videos thanksverymuch.

and more like 2nd mouse 2nd keyboard.

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 07:04 PM

If you don't care, why are you asking... T-T Just go for the cheapest ones...

Idk, goodbye, this thread.

you said i dont care about what it does. i was implying that i dont care that it plays video.

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 07:12 PM

Fair 'nuff. Tbh, I still don't get what that weird bar is on the top of this kbd. Looks ridiculous.

Posted by: jcp Oct 24 2009, 07:14 PM

i know. there are some other versions of the keyboard that have charging docks for mice and usb ports. this is the minimalist version. i think it would look worse without. nice flow. it will especially look good with my laptop on this.

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 07:20 PM

Sooo it's a charging dock for like wireless mice and stuff? Cool and less useless, but still ugly lulz.

Posted by: jcp Oct 24 2009, 07:22 PM

no it is useless. haha. there are other models that use that space for that.

but i dont like using wireless and i dont like that mouse.

Posted by: HeartOfPandora Oct 24 2009, 08:01 PM

Well that's just a huge fail. It'd be pretty sexy without that thing, I mean it's super slim and sharp looking.

And yeah wireless stuff is only good if it comes with a wired option (like the new PS3 controllers) and your screen is big enough to need it. When we can do wireless charging, though (mainstream, not that creepy lightning stuff that'd fry your hand off), that's when I go wireless whee.

Posted by: jcp Oct 24 2009, 08:13 PM

ya there are a few wirelessly charging laptops out there. and the other closest thing is the wireless charging dock.

Posted by: Beenly Oct 24 2009, 09:22 PM

f*ck keyboards, there should be voice command. The computer will be able to form the words into a sentence and correct any grammar issues , be able to detect which type of word ur using in its context, blah blah

Posted by: jcp Oct 24 2009, 09:41 PM

vista has that but it sucks balls. it is so much slower to.

and you can navigate your computer using only the voice.

that's a bad concept. i say they should keep the mouses and keyboard just in case, but have the voice command if ur feelin lazy

Posted by: jcp Oct 26 2009, 01:46 PM

thats exactly what it is.

you say, show numbers, and it adds a number to every clickable object then you say the number. still why would you use that?

Posted by: Beenly Oct 26 2009, 09:09 PM

idk. maybe if you have broken arms?

Posted by: jcp Oct 26 2009, 09:10 PM

maybe a soothing color should do the trick, haha.

mouse on one computer - Microsoft Sidewinder X8

mouse on other computer - Microsoft Sidewinder X5
looks the same, except without the LCD screen, and only goes to 2000 DPI instead of 4000 DPI

Keyboard on one computer - Luxeed Dynamic Pixel

Keyboard on other computer - Das Keyboard Ultimate

Also on one computer, generic microsoft mouse (as you can see, microsoft makes the best mice) and a generic tactile keyboard I got from a thrift store.

Also on another computer, Logitech G9 mouse and logitech G11 keyboard.

Charging isn't an issue to me, it's the slow response time of wireless devices.
