Ok so my brother bought a PS2, the "thin" one with the built in online adapter. So we've had this ps2 for about less than a year. So like about today, I was trying to play THUG 2 online and somehow it says that they're not able to read the disk. So then I tried other games, and it did the same. So has anyone has this problem, what should I do?

My other question is for the online compatibility. To create an account, do you do it while you're playing the game? Like before the problem, maybe 3 days before, I try to play THUG 2 online and it says I need something in the memory card. I dont know, so yeah.

So thank you for reading this, I know it's probably like old, but I'm not really up to date with anything, lol. So thank you and I hope this has not been posted, and if it has..well then...Thanks a lot.

the ps2 is built with poor quality components in order to keep costs down. also, the dvd player is prone to breaking.

You could just get the most current model of the fat ps2 and stick an hdd (hard disc drive) at the back.
The hdd is great, it's for online play, downloading maps for socom and it can store saved game data.

don't get a new one, get the old one repaired. buying a new one helps sony's sale figures.

Mine does the same thing. What I do is I have some alchol and clean the cd and if that doesnt work I take the game out and put it back in and I try it a few times and it eventually works. Really pisses me off though...

Use that warrenty you got from sony. Unless it does not cover the drive, if its a componet isue they will fix it or replace it. If it was someones fault say in ur house, they wont.

WOW, one sale is gunna hurt the leader in gaming counsels. Plus the PS2 is old history, Sony doesn’t give a rats a** about the PS2 sales anymore, there worried about launching the PS3 and getting it to take the gaming world to its knees overnight like the PS2 did. Plus Sonys gaming department is at the bottom of the chain, sony has better things to worry about. The consol business doesn’t make anofe profit to keep a company alive.

don't underestimate the power of the dollar. refusing to buy that ps2 is telling sony, "i'm sick of this crap. give us better hardware like you used to do." I don't know about you, but I don't contribute to a company's sales if I don't agree with their practices.

This might have nothing to do with it, but my Slot 2 for PS2 doesn't work. Supposily the controller from Katz (is it?) did something to the slot and now nothing works in there. _dry.gif

Mad Katz sucks. All your broken controller ports are belong to them.

Ps2 gives u a real headache when it don't play certain games. My ps2 causes scratches on my Smackdown HCTP but I fixed it with using a cd scratcher device called gamedoctor found at your local gamestop. It fixed alot of my games with just a problem of it looking like it all warpy look. Oh well.

Anyways, you should have gotten a cd with your ps2 if it has the online adapter in order to make a account online. It needs to saves some network settings but im not sure about the ps2 with a built in adapter since mine ain't built-in.
