Forums _ Tech Help _ Help, Windows not letting me login.

Hello

I have a problem with logging on to Windows.

I am using Windows XP, and once I get to the user select screen, I click one of the users to log in as, and it suddenly then keeps the same screen but says under the user Saving your settings, then Logging off, all before i have ever even logged in and got to my desktop.

I have tried logging in as an Administrator, and in Safe Mode, and have tried rebooting many times. NOthing seems to be working, and I have no clue now.

If anyone has any ideas, or any help, that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

You have an illegal copy that prefers that you either pay for a license or to shut off your computer.

Well, that's what it says.

Long story short, We bought our computer just as any other, its a Dell, and everything was fine. Down the road, we got a virus, had a computer guy come over to fix it (Phonebook), had the hard drive completely erased, basically completely back to new. I'm thinking he just installed Windows from something that he had, maybe instead of from the actual software disk. Everything was completely fine for a long time, till recently for the past month or so the notification says we had a stolen version of Windows. We're just a normal family, so we thought it was an error or whatever you know, kept ignoring it. Now this happens. Not sure how I can fix it...

Also, I'm on my laptop right now, it's the desktop that's messed up. I would like to get in at least 1 more time, there are a bunch of files that I would like to backup....:(

Call Dell. See what they can do for you. They might tell you to call Microsoft. Unless of course you have your Dell discs.

Explain to them that you had a virus and had the Hard drive wiped and the PC tech might have installed his own copy instead of installing the legitimate copy that came with your PC.

Well if you can't get in, you can take the computer to a computer store and they can probably take all the files out.

Yeah, I'm still googling around though for other possibilities too.
