In another topic it was said that as a step parent I have no right to punish my stepsons and that paddling them is wrong. Surely my wife share responsibilities, including corporal punishment.

I have been branded a pedo for giving corporal punishment to my stepson when he was 11. OK doing it over my lap isn't appropriate for a lad his age but using an implement such as a paddle was ilegal when I lived in Canada.

Now living in Texas I can paddle them which I believe to be a good thing.

In Kenya an entire school was caned when the culprit responsible for damaging the water tank didn't own up. That's abuse. What I do is discipline.

I don't trust the schools. My wife and I do not permit paddling. If Rory or Daniel are bad they are paddled at home. No way am I going to let the school do it.

Why do you seek advice about parenting from a forum that, well, lacks parents?

Sure is, but to my knowledge there is only one paren, is it? one parent on this forum.

If you'd like i can PM you her link so you can ask her for some parenting advice, be warned she might charge you because i mean shrinks charge about $100 an our. If your lucky she might not charge at all. mellow.gif

i suggest begging.

If you hadn't noticed, the (active) population of Createblog consists mainly of high school and college students, with a few miscellaneous stragglers.

Exactly. We didn't say that parents aren't allowed here or anything.

As for this topic...schools still do that? blink.gif Hm. Yeh.

Speaking on behalf of a stepchild, I must say that step parents don't have the right to do it. My stepfather used to beat me up, until last year on St. Patty's Day when i took a vacuum cleaner to his head.

Actually, Rebecca isn't the only parent here. There's actually some here and you would be surprise to who, but I won't say any names.

First off, how long have you been their step-father? If you been for quite a while and raise them since forever, I would say it's alright to spank them once in a while.

However, if you're clearly abusing them, or have just been a stepfather with them, and your relationship with your stepchildren isn't all that great, then no. There are other ways to discipline you're stepchildren.

Overall, you're a child molester, and I've read all you're damn posts. You sicken me. Freak.

This is coming from a step-child's point of view, but if my stepmother had ever laid a finger on me when I was younger, I would have punched her in the f**kin' face (and she knows it too). Discipline should be left up to the child's parents; it should never be the step parent's responsibility.

Instead of smacking your kids, start taking away their stuff. A couple weeks without music or tv is far more torturous than a whack on the butt. I know a lot of people don't have time to watch their little brats 24/7 to make sure they're following the rules, so I'll give you a hint. When you take away the TV privileges, unplug the cable from the TV. Ban them from the computer; unhook the keyboard and take it to work with you. Add another day to the punishment each time the child complains. (These are examples of various punishments my mother used on me....It works.)

As for being considered a pedophile, it's your own fault. I don't know the details, or care to. But the fact is, he wasn't your son and never will be. Don't touch other people's goddamn kids.
