anywho, so today, I saw my cousin after a while. She always had acne problems all her life, she finally got ProActiv, and it actually worked. I never had huge acne problems, I just usually wash my face with water and soap, and drink a lot of water. That always helped me.

So my question is, what's your way of getting rid of acne?

I've never had a big acne problem. I'll spot some blemishes occasionally, usually when I'm on the monthly devastation, but that's it. Or if it's really humid.

I religiously wash my face morning and night though. I've never worn face makeup (foundation) and have always used non oil based spf something or rather moisturizer. I also drink a TON of water and stay away from greasy foods (on a regular basis, sometimes you just can't deny the power of an Arby's beef-n-cheddar).

I had bad acne in high school. I used doxycycline and it worked wonders. Its a pill that I took once a day cause I hate putting creams on my face.

It isnt so bad now and I use Velocity face wash and moisturizer by Mary Kay. I love it.

i've been blessed with acne-free skin... i get the occasional pimple around that time of the month, but it's rare.

tea tree oil is a good natural way of controlling acne: my boyfriend uses it.

Be waaary of ProActiv.. I've heard from a lot of people that it can work miracles at first, but stops working after a few months. Anyway, if that doesn't work for you there's tea tree oil, jojoba oil (in place of moisturizer), clay masks for oily skin (whether umbrian clay or the classic Queen Helene's from Walgreens), DDF sulfur masks.. there are a lot of alternatives if one way doesn't work out for you but keep in mind that it takes 4-5 weeks or so for skin cells to renew itself (new dead cells work itself up from the dermis and become the epidermis.) That means when trying out a new product you have to wait at least that long to know if it actually works. Another thing to keep in mind is that a lot of products work by pushing the gunk out of your pores, which at the surface can cause breakouts until all the gunk completely clear your pores. After that initial breakout though, everything should be clear (a lot of people understandably freak out and stop use.) Of course there are tons of other factors like pollutants in the air, how much you touch your skin, diet, and even how you dry your face (pat or blot the towel, don't rub cause it can aggravate it.) Definitely exfoliate (you can use a little bit of baking soda mixed with water) to help speed up the skin's renewal process.

Oh! And don't use any cheapo stuff with mineral oil on your face cause it blocks your pores, unless you have amazing genes.

I used to break out really bad on my forehead in middle school. At first, I used ProActive, but it dried my skin out a lot. Eventually, my acne lessened. Now I use AcneFree and it works great. _smile.gif

I used to use these dove wash pads every night but now that I'm getting older its harder to control, so now I use proactive every night. And if I ever get a big pimple I just dip a qtip in alcohol and rub it on. It burns like heck, but by morning anywhere I put it is clear.

But I have never had noticable acne. Hygiene is extremely important to me.

You're not supposed to wash your face with soap since it dries your skin out. Use Neutrogena, Clean & Clear, or a product similar to one of those.

i use soap all the time if I don't have anything else, I'd rather have dry skin than oily skin

Not going to lie though, I've had prescription acne face washes since 2005 and can count on two hands the amount of days I've missed a wash.

Acne has never been a huge problem for me, but I get zits every once in awhile. Tea tree oil usually clears them up.

I never had really bad acne, but I had noticable acne and I tried so many creams and medicines and to be completely honest, the only thing that worked for me was going on birth control pills. My skin has been so clear ever since I started it.
