she's the only one who even has it close to being right. seriously, do some research before putting random bands into a genre.

Who made you the king of emo..

Mae » Rock / Emo / Indie
Daphne loves Derby » Indie / Rock / Emo
Matt Pond PA - his band is underground so you probably
have never heard of them but they are indeed Emo
Anberlin » Rock / Emo / Alternative

...no one, i've researched it and most current bands that are considered emo really aren't in the historical sense. i don't want to turn this into an arguement though; if you like a band you shouldn't care what genre it's in. i'll stop posting in this thread because i don't want to start anything, but you guys should read those websites _smile.gif. and sorry if i came off like an ass, but for some reason this subject pisses me off.

actually...
i have the mae cd (gives me a headache), i've listened to daphne loves derby on purevolume (bad), and i just ordered emblems (matt pond pa) yesterday morning from bn.com (and already downloaded about 20 of their songs off bearshare earlier this month; they're the only band you listed that i actually like). i've heard OF anberlin, but haven't actually listened to them.
and where did you get those genres? purevolume? because the bands get to choose what genre they believe they fit in.
here is a sound clip of rites of spring, considered the first emo band. does that sound ANYTHING like daphne loves derby, or any of the other bands? no. of course genres change, but whiny acoustic rock doesn't have any relation to the d.c. punk sound that emo originated from.

I thought you said you were not going to post in here anymore. Of course none of those bands are going to sound like "rites of spring" They have their own sound that they have developed. Wait.. but emo bands are all supposed to sound like "rites of spring" because they were like the FIRST emo band ever [ notice the sarcasm ].

I was just going by what genre those bands consider themselves because I think it is obivious that only "they" can place themselves into the genre they think they belong too. It doesn't even matter.. Why are you getting all hot and bothered up there. I don't want to argue with you because it's useless progress. If this subject pisses you off then why did you reply again ? EH ?

If you decide to reply to this, don't expect me to reply. Argue with yourself kid.

i said i wouldn't reply, but that was before you edited your post with those bands. i decided to reply then, because you were acting like i don't know a thing about music ("they're underground so you probably don't know them", even when matt pond pa happens to be one of my favorite bands), when you're the one who obviously doesn't know music very well. i know you won't reply to this, but i hope you understand my point that those bands have NOTHING in relation to the original sound (even though they "created their own sound"), and people catorgize them into this genre because they don't know what they're talking about. i don't know how it happened, but all of a sudden people think that if it's whiny and acoustic, or it evokes emotion, it is emo... which is not the case, obviously. (tupac evokes emotion, so is he emo?). and i'm getting all hot and bothered because i put the information right in front of you, and yet you still decide to believe your opinions instead of history. okay, NOW i'm done posting _smile.gif.
